I’m spending my last full week in the US before taking a big international trip. I’m not actually sure of the exact details of that trip just yet, though I hope it will include Air Peace, Air Tanzania, Air Mauritius, and more. 😉

On the points & travel front, this week Air Belgium announced resumption of scheduled flights, some new credit card bonuses were introduced, British Airways moved forward their A350 launch and announced their first 777 route with Club Suites, Garuda Indonesia was in the news for being stupid, and more.

With that out of the way, here’s a recap of this week on the blog:

I’m Not Sure American Airlines Is At Fault Here (For Once)?

There’s a story going viral at the moment with the title “Dear American Airlines, I Hate You With My Whole Heart.”

The story contains a lot of bad language, though I think it’s actually a good lesson for travelers, because the airline industry is really complex.

Let me start by summarizing what happened, and then sharing my take. I’ll try to summarize the situation as objectively and concisely as possible.

Good Deals With New Singapore KrisFlyer Award Promo

Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer program offers monthly “Spontaneous Escapes” deals, where they constantly have a list of flights that can be booked at a discount when redeeming miles.

Presumably they’re primarily discounting flights that they don’t anticipate being full, and where there’s a lot of award availability. This can be a really useful promotion.

KrisFlyer has just published their latest Spontaneous Escapes list, which has dozens of destinations on it, between the Singapore Airlines and SilkAir route networks.
