World of Hyatt has today launched its first major promotion of 2022. While we learned the details several weeks back, I wanted to recap the offer and remind people to register.
In this post:
Earn 2,022 bonus points every two nights
World of Hyatt’s new Bonus Journeys promotion is valid for stays between January 15 and April 20, 2022. With this promotion, World of Hyatt members earn 2,022 bonus points after every two nights stayed.

There are some things to be aware of with the Hyatt Bonus Journeys promotion:
- Registration is required prior to your first eligible stay, and no later than March 15, 2022
- The promotion is valid for stays at all Hyatt properties, participating MGM Resorts, Small Luxury Hotels of the World locations, and Lindblad Expeditions
- Any stay booked directly with Hyatt qualifies towards the promotion, including stays booked prior to the start of the promotion
- You earn 2,022 World of Hyatt bonus points after every two nights, regardless of whether or not the nights are consecutive
- You can be rewarded for a maximum of 20 nights during the promotion period, meaning you could earn up to 20,220 World of Hyatt bonus points
- Award stays qualify towards this promotion

Credit card members earn an extra bonus
Those with the World of Hyatt Credit Card (review) or World of Hyatt Business Credit Card (review) can earn a further reward:
- Cardmembers can earn an additional 1,000 bonus points per eligible stay at select properties
- There are 180+ participating properties in the following 10 cities: Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington DC
- Cardmembers can earn a maximum of 10,000 bonus points under this promotion

Crunching the numbers on Hyatt’s promotion
World of Hyatt’s new Bonus Journeys promotion is better than nothing, though not good compared to the promotions we’ve seen from the program during the pandemic (which I guess shouldn’t come as a surprise).
For context, I value World of Hyatt points at ~1.5 cents each. How does the math work out on this promotion?
- You’re earning an average of 1,011 World of Hyatt bonus points per night, which is like an incremental return of $15 per night; you can only earn this for your first 20 nights during the promotion period, though
- Those with a co-branded credit card can earn an additional 1,000 bonus points per stay at select properties, which is like an incremental return of $15 per stay, but only for up to 10 stays
These rewards are in addition to the usual points earning rates with World of Hyatt:
- World of Hyatt members earn 5x points per dollar spent at Hyatts and other eligible properties
- Elite members receive further bonuses — Discoverists earn an extra 0.5x points per dollar spent, Explorists earn an extra 1.0x points per dollar spent, and Globalists earn an extra 1.5x points per dollar spent
- If you pay with the World of Hyatt Credit Card (review) or World of Hyatt Business Credit Card (review) you earn an extra 4x points per dollar spent
This promotion is better than nothing, but also wouldn’t be enough to get me to switch any stays to Hyatt. We’re talking about a maximum reward of ~$15 per night, plus up to an additional ~$15 reward per stay in select cities for those with a Hyatt credit card.
This offer is good for those who make award stays, and for those who stay at inexpensive properties. For those making longer stays at expensive properties, this is a rather lackluster promotion. It’s especially disappointing to see this when you consider that Hyatt’s last major promotion ended in mid-September 2021, so there was a four month gap between promotions.

Other World of Hyatt offers to take advantage of
In addition to the new Hyatt Bonus Journeys promotion, keep in mind the other ongoing offers from World of Hyatt:
- You can earn 500 bonus points when you stay at a new Hyatt hotel
- You can earn a free Category 1-4 free night when you stay at new Hyatt brands with the Brand Explorer promotion
- American AAdvantage and World of Hyatt have a partnership, allowing elite AAdvantage members to earn bonus American miles for Hyatt stays; furthermore, through January 31, 2022, there’s a promotion offering 1,000 bonus miles per night at select properties
- You can maximize value with Hyatt stays by booking through the Hyatt Privé program

See this post for everything you need to know about earning Hyatt points with credit cards. On top of that, World of Hyatt frequently sells points at a discount.

Bottom line
World of Hyatt has just launched its newest global Bonus Journeys promotion for stays as of today. With this promotion, members can earn 2,022 bonus points after every two nights, for the first 20 nights during the promotion period. On top of that, those with a co-branded credit card can earn 1,000 bonus points per stay at select properties.
Compared to the triple points promotion we saw World of Hyatt offer in early 2021, this new offer is quite disappointing. It’s not bad for those making award stays or inexpensive stays, but for those staying at more expensive properties, this isn’t a great offer at all.
What do you make of the new World of Hyatt Bonus Journeys promotion?
MUCH better deal if also targeted for the AA promo. Per night:
1. 1010 WOH points for every 2 nights
2. 1,000 WOH points for having the WOH credit card
3. 1,000 WOH points with targeted AA promo
4. 1,000 AA miles, reciprocal promo with 3.
I’ll gladly spend a net 1,000 points (4,000 points/miles earned while redeeming 5,000 WOH points on a Cat 1) for inexpensive Elite nights!
I am a bit confused, if I stay two separate nights, does it count as two nights or do I have to stay for two nights?
Not the worst deal, but insane once the transition to MGM Rewards occurs. Then you get no resort fees on $10+tax nights. Definitely makes considering legitimate mattress runs worth considering if Vegas is easily accessible.
Can’t complain. I’ve got six award stays coming up during this period.
Ben, when you post pics of the rooms, can you also post the hotel at which these can be found?
Just wanted to confirm I am reading this correctly. You can still earn the Bonus Journeys deal if using a points stay or a free night certificate stay. Can anyone confirm? Thank you!
That's correct, it's written in to the Hyatt T&Cs
Any idea about Hyatt extending status/certificates/club access awards? Hilton truly leads the pack in this area? Much more generous.
i got a four night award stay booked in February ill take the free 4044 points!
Not terrible to find a category 1 off peak to stay at for 10 nights on points. Will net you 10 nights for roughly 25,000 points. A little less if one can break up the stays easily and they participate in the credit card offer.
Hyatt's stingy / bean-counting promotion is almost as laughable as Apple's charger now.
If having to earn full 60 TQN in 2022, maybe time to get back to Bonvoy…… At least their paid rate is cheap as hell.
Enjoy the lack of benefits and zero hotel control at Bonvoy then
@UA-NYC
Marriott Bonvoy is the best
Not a stellar but the first hotel promo of 2022. I assume we will not be hearing from Bonvoy till February...
