About a month ago, World of Hyatt announced the details of its next big global promotion, which offers bonus points and makes it easier to earn elite status. This is really exciting, since World of Hyatt’s previous global promotion ended in April 2022. I wanted to post a reminder of this offer, as it’s live for stays as of today.
In this post:
Hyatt offering double points with new promo
World of Hyatt’s Bonus Journeys promotion is valid for stays between September 15 and December 20, 2022. With this promotion, World of Hyatt members can earn:
- 2x World of Hyatt points on qualifying stays of two or more nights at all properties
- 2x World of Hyatt elite nights on stays of any length, but only at 65+ Inclusive Collection resorts

There are some things to be aware of with the Hyatt Bonus Journeys promotion:
- Registration is required prior to your first eligible stay, and no later than November 15, 2022
- The promotion is valid for stays at all Hyatt properties, participating MGM Resorts, Small Luxury Hotels of the World locations, and Lindblad Expeditions
- Any stay booked directly with Hyatt qualifies toward the promotion, including stays booked prior to the start of the promotion, as well as award stays
- The check-out dates must fall within the promotion period, so in order for a stay to be eligible, you must check-out between September 15 and December 20, 2022
- You can earn a maximum of 60,000 World of Hyatt bonus points with this promotion, which you’d earn after $12,000 of eligible Hyatt spending
- There’s no limit to how many bonus elite nights you can earn at Inclusive Collection resorts; these properties include Hyatt Ziva, Hyatt Zilara, Zoetry Wellness Spa & Resorts, Secrets Resorts & Spas, Breathless Resorts & Spas, Dreams Resorts & Spas, Alua Hotels & Resorts, and Sunscape Resorts & Spas

Crunching the numbers on Hyatt’s promotion
Let’s start with the double points aspect of this promotion. For context, I value World of Hyatt points at ~1.5 cents each. How does the math work out on this promotion?
- World of Hyatt members ordinarily earn 5x base points per dollar spent at Hyatt properties, so with this promotion you’d earn an incremental 5x points per dollar spent; to me that’s an incremental return of 7.5% on Hyatt spending
- Elite members receive further bonuses — Discoverists earn an extra 0.5x points per dollar spent, Explorists earn an extra 1.0x points per dollar spent, and Globalists earn an extra 1.5x points per dollar spent
- If you pay with the World of Hyatt Credit Card (review) or World of Hyatt Business Credit Card (review) you earn an extra 4x points per dollar spent
As you can see, the promotion offers an incremental 7.5% return on Hyatt spending. If you’re a World of Hyatt Globalist member paying with a co-branded credit card, you can earn a total of 15.5x World of Hyatt points per eligible dollar spent with Hyatt, which I view at a 23%+ return on Hyatt spending. That’s pretty solid.
This is a good promotion, certainly better than the one we saw earlier this year. However, it’s not quite as good as some of the promotions we’ve seen in the past, offering up to triple points.
As far as the double elite nights promotion goes, that’s of course great for those staying at Hyatt’s all-inclusive properties. Hyatt is understandably trying to push those hard, after its acquisition of Apple Leisure Group. However, personally I don’t see many people going out of their way to plan a last minute all-inclusive stay in order to earn double elite nights (though I could be wrong).

Other World of Hyatt offers to take advantage of
In addition to the new Hyatt Bonus Journeys promotion, keep in mind the other ongoing offers from World of Hyatt:
- You can earn 500 bonus points when you stay at a new Hyatt hotel
- You can earn a free Category 1-4 free night when you stay at new Hyatt brands with the Brand Explorer promotion
- You can earn double points at MGM Rewards properties through October 15, 2022, which can be stacked with this offer
- American AAdvantage and World of Hyatt have a partnership, allowing elite AAdvantage members to earn bonus American miles for Hyatt stays
- American AAdvantage elite members are eligible for a Hyatt fast track through November 30, 2022, offering Explorist or Globalist status based on staying a certain number of nights during the promotion period
- You can maximize value with Hyatt stays by booking through the Hyatt Privé program

Other ways to earn World of Hyatt points
If you’re looking to earn more World of Hyatt points, the good news is that Hyatt points are pretty easy to come by. In addition to being able to earn World of Hyatt points with the World of Hyatt Credit Card (review) or World of Hyatt Business Credit Card (review), you can also transfer over points from Ultimate Rewards. Bottom line
World of Hyatt has just launched its newest global Bonus Journeys promotion, valid for stays between September 15 and December 20, 2022. With this promotion, members can earn double points on all stays of two or more nights. Furthermore, stays at Inclusive Collection properties are eligible to earn double elite nights, which will help with qualifying for status.
After not having a global promotion this summer, it’s great to see World of Hyatt bring back a rewarding offer for stays this fall.
What do you make of the new World of Hyatt Bonus Journeys promotion?
What if you use the DOUBLE POINTS RATE during this promotion? Is that 20x/$1 spent?
@ Tony -- A double points rate gets you an extra five points per dollar spent, so you'd earn 15x points per dollar spent at a Hyatt when staying two or more nights.
a pretty disappointing promo, especially double tqn is US only - a slap in the face for WoH members outside US this year.
It is a very US centric program anyway - eg credit card spend etc
Do double nights at all-inclusives count towards Globalist 20 night challenge some of are eligible for through our jobs?
If this offer can be stacked with the MGM 2x points, that's 4x total then? Can you/did you confirm with Hyatt? Thanks
@ Troopers -- That would be 3x points total. Double points promotions are always determined from base points, so you ordinarily earn 5x base points, and then you'd earn 5x bonus points twice.
Does that also apply to the double your points rate?
Hi Ben, are you sure that: "Any stay booked directly with Hyatt qualifies toward the promotion, including stays booked prior to the start of the promotion"? When I registered online using your link, the following text came up: "You're all set—just book and then complete your stays between September 15 and December 20, 2022, to double your rewards. "
@ Gerard -- Hyatt promotions almost never exclude previously booked stays. When you look at the terms, you'll see that there's nothing stating that previously booked travel doesn't qualify, as long as you register and then stay. So unless I'm missing something, I feel pretty confident about my claim.
Did the math, this will net me an additional 15K points. Not shabby. Wish all nights counted as double points, not just two night stays, but still decent.
Do you get double nights credit on stays booked with points ?
They're doubling Tier Qualifying nights, and since nights booked with points count, then yes.
only at the all inclusive properties
I do see the value of double elite nights at the end of the year when people are making vacation plans during Thanksgiving and are short of a couple elite nights. Sad that it is only available in NA.
