Four Seasons has a loyal following, and there’s one fairly new property that has proven particularly popular. The Four Seasons Los Cabos at Costa Palmas opened in 2019, and has received rave reviews.

In this post I wanted to cover the basics of the Four Seasons Los Cabos, and also share the best ways to maximize value for stays here (which is to take advantage of promotions and book through a Four Seasons Preferred Partner agent).

Four Seasons Los Cabos

Four Seasons Los Cabos At Costa Palmas basics

The Four Seasons Los Cabos at Costa Palmas has a total of 141 rooms, including 118 guest rooms and 23 suites.

Four Seasons is calling this the brand’s first “marina resort,” noting that it’s located on two miles of beachfront on the Sea of Cortez. For better or worse, this resort is really secluded. It’s over an hour drive from Cabo San Lucas, which is where most of the restaurants, hotels, and clubs, are otherwise located.

This is a great property if you’re looking to be secluded and mostly eat at the hotel, while this isn’t where I’d stay if partying is on your agenda. In this era I’d consider the seclusion to be a huge plus.

Four Seasons Los Cabos

The Four Seasons Los Cabos has all the amenities you’d expect from a high-end resort in the area, including five dining and bar options (including a signature Estiatorio Milos), four swimming pools, a kids club, a spa with 10 treatment rooms, and an 18-hole golf course.

Four Seasons Los Cabos room types

The Four Seasons Los Cabos at Costa Palmas has a variety of room types, as you’d expect.

Here’s a rundown of the room types, starting with the entry level room, all the way to the premium rooms:

  • Ocean-View Room, which is 680 square feet
  • Prime Ocean-View Room, which is 680 square feet and has premium views
  • Ocean-View Room With Plunge Pool, which is 680 square feet and has a plunge pool
  • Oceanfront Room, which is 680 square feet and has premium views of the ocean
  • Sunrise Room, which is 635 square feet and has the best sunrise views over the Sea of Cortez

Then here are the suites, starting with the entry level suite, all the way to the presidential villa:

  • Ocean-View Executive Suite, which is 850 square feet
  • Oceanfront Executive Suite, which is 850 square feet and has premium views
  • Oceanfront One Bedroom Suite, which is 1,020 square feet and has premium views
  • Sunrise One-Bedroom Suite, which is 1,615 square feet and has premium views
  • Three-Bedroom Beachfront Presidential Villa, which is 3,475 square feet

Four Seasons Los Cabos rates

As you’d expect, rates at the Four Seasons Los Cabos at Costa Palmas aren’t cheap, and they’re also highly seasonal.

Base rooms at the Four Seasons Los Cabos seem to start at the following amounts:

  • $850 per night for most of the year
  • $1,350 per night during their busy season, especially in winter
  • $1,850 per night during festive season

While these rates are high, this is in line with what most of the top hotels in Cabo are charging. Note that these rates don’t include the high taxes and service charges in Mexico, which amount to a further 34%. This includes a 16% VAT, 3% state tax, and 15% service charge. This is standard across properties.

In general the Four Seasons Los Cabos seems to have a two week cancelation policy on flexible rates, though that can vary by room type, season, etc., so you’ll want to check the reservation you’re considering for full details. Four Seasons is temporarily offering a more flexible cancelation policy in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

Four Seasons Los Cabos promotions

The Four Seasons Los Cabos at Costa Palmas has a variety of promotions that guests can take advantage of when booking, including the following:

  • Through December 31, 2024, receive a third night free with every two paid nights
  • Through December 31, 2024, receive a $200 nightly credit for guest rooms and a $400 nightly credit for suites
  • Through December 31, 2024, save 25% when you book at least seven days in advance

Note that none of these promotions are combinable, so you have to choose which of these offers you’d like to take advantage of.

Book with Four Seasons Preferred Partner

If you are going to book the Four Seasons Los Cabos at Costa Palmas, you should absolutely book through a Travel Advisor who is affiliated with Four Seasons Preferred Partner. This is a program available to select Travel Advisors, where they can add value for your stays without it costing you anything extra.

Four Seasons Preferred Partner offers extra perks like daily breakfast, room upgrades, resort credits, and more, all at no additional cost to the guest. This can be combined with any of the above promotions, including the fourth night free promotion.

Just to give an example, the Four Seasons Los Cabos charges an extra $80 per night for a rate that includes breakfast, though through Preferred Partner you can get that at no extra cost.

If you’re booking Four Seasons and you’re not doing so through a Preferred Partner agent then you’re doing it wrong.

If you’d like to make a booking at the Four Seasons Los Cabos to get the best deal, and/or have a question about Preferred Partner, you can reach out to Ford at [email protected]. Travel Advisors may even be able to help if you already have existing bookings.

Bottom line

Four Seasons Los Cabos at Costa Palmas is Four Seasons’ third property in Mexico, in addition to properties inMexico City and Punta Mita. The Four Seasons Los Cabos has now been open for over a year, and the reviews so far have been excellent.

Hopefully the above gives a good overview of the property. If you are going to book this property, make sure you’re at least maximizing value by booking through a Preferred Partner agent.

    Ben,
Have you actually been to this property? I doubt it! I have, and found it completely deceitful that the property is under construction and years away from being able to charge Four Seasons prices for a stay. Please go ...if you like construction workers, bulldozers on the beach, construction noise, a spa and golf course under construction, and service that is not even close to any Four Seasons experience.

but is the beach a swimmable beach?? theres only a handful of calm, swimmable beaches in the area, and as far as I know the Montage is the only higher end property with one.

Also, Zadun is a Ritz-Carlton Reserve property also set to open later this year in Puerta Los Cabos.

    @Kevin
Many hotels and guesthouses have multi-filtered/reversed osmosis water. Where I stay I drink the tap water daily. I've tested the PPM (which is a separate test for only particles), and it's lower than the majority of places, including hotels I've tested in the USA. But, do what you feel is best for you.

Is this really the most expensive hotel in the area? There are maybe 10 at the same price point (One&Only, Rosewood, Montage, Esperanza, Grand Velas, etc.)

Of course, the rates fluctuate, but they all seem on par with each other..

@Evan - have been wondering this for years. I would have thought Alaska or JetBlue would try this and living in NYC, there is absolutely demand.

  10. Kevin Guest

@Mark thank you for your reply. I had a stomach issue when I was in Mexico City even though I tried my best to only drink / brush teeth with bottled water. But somehow I still got sick. I was staying at Mexico City Four Seasons which is a nice property. I think this Four Seasons at Cabo will be a pass. At this price with high tax to boot and I still have to worry about water intake? At least in Hawaii, I won’t have to worry about water or stomach issues.

  11. Mark Diamond

Kevin you shouldn't really drink the water in Mexico anywhere.

  12. Evan Gold

I really dont get why no airline has pushed east coast-cabo routes. From NYC the only direct option is a once a week flight from United until the xMas season, then after new years its twice a week.

I have to imagine there is sufficient demand for some people taking long weekend trips. what am i missing?

    1. Ben (Lucky) OMAAT

@ Evan -- I wonder exactly the same thing. At a minimum you'd think a seasonal weekend service from the NYC-area to SJD would work. This is transcon length, and no doubt many prefer SJD to CUN. I feel like this is a route we may see in the not-too-distant future.

  13. John Guest

Cabo is getting a Park Hyatt as well.

  14. Kevin Guest

Does anyone in this part of Mexico if one needs to be careful of drinking water? TIA.
