Weekly Review: September 21, 2019

Hello from St. Petersburg (Florida, not Russia). I’m spending the next week here with my mom, and am having a great time. This morning I ran in my first-ever 10k (thanks to you guys for your generous donations and thoughts). OMG I still can’t move. Bonus points to anyone who can guess my time. 😉

On the points & travel front, this week several hotel programs introduced new bonuses on purchased points and new promotions for stays, Etihad devalued Royal Air Maroc awards, XL Airways stopped selling tickets, Air Senegal announced they’d start flying to the US, and more.

A Well-Timed Race

This has nothing to do with miles & points, but I wanted to share an update regarding my mom, since I consider you guys to be like family, and a lot of people have asked.

As I’ve written about before, on Mother’s Day of this year my mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. You guys have been so incredibly supportive and have sent so many good thoughts my mom’s way, and I really appreciate it.

Ahhhh, back in Air France’s stunning La Premiere cabin!

At the door we were greeted by the cabin manager and “our” flight attendant, and were informed that we had the cabin to ourselves once again.

Can I just stop for a second to point out the degree to which I was pinching myself at this point?

We had private cabins all the way from New York to Paris to Johannesburg. I couldn’t possibly think of a more special flying experience out there… we’re not worthy!
