Radisson Rewards Americas Promo: Double Points

Radisson Rewards Americas Promo: Double Points

1

The Radisson Rewards Americas loyalty program was introduced in June 2021, and is exclusively for Radisson-family properties in the Americas. The loyalty program has just launched its latest major promotion for summer, which has the potential to be pretty rewarding.

Note that even though it was announced that Choice Hotels will purchase Radisson Rewards Americas, for now the program is continuing to run independently, and there’s no timeline for that changing.

Earn double points with Radisson Rewards Americas promo

With the new Radisson Rewards Americas promotion, members can earn double Radisson Rewards points on stays of two or more nights. As you’d expect, there are some details to be aware of:

  • The offer is valid for stays between July 6 and August 31, 2022
  • You must register prior to check-out of your first eligible stay (it’s fine if you booked your stay prior to the start of the promotion)
  • The offer is available at all 600+ Radisson Collection, Radisson Blu, Radisson, Radisson RED, Radisson Individuals, Park Plaza, Park Inn by Radisson, and Country Inn & Suites by Radisson hotels in the United States, Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean
  • You can earn up to 100,000 bonus points with this promotion (which you’d earn after spending $5,000 on eligible rates)
  • Qualifying stays are those that are booked directly with Radisson at an eligible rate, which excludes award nights and Points + Cash redemptions
  • Bonus points should post within 5-10 days of an eligible stay

How valuable is this Radisson Rewards promotion?

Radisson Rewards Americas members ordinarily earn 20 base points per dollar spent, so during this promotion, they’d earn an extra 20 points per dollar spent on stays of two or more nights (up to a total of 100,000 points).

In other words, members would earn a total of 40 points per dollar spent. This doesn’t factor in any elite bonuses (up to 15 points per dollar spent for Platinums) or bonuses from credit card rewards.

For context on what your points can get you, here’s the Radisson Rewards Americas award chart:

Personally I value Radisson Rewards points at ~0.3 cents each, so this promotion offers an incremental ~6% return on Radisson spending, by my valuation. While I wouldn’t say that this is a reason to switch stays to Radisson, when you consider the overall rewards structure, that’s pretty decent.

Bottom line

Radisson Rewards Americas has launched its latest promotion, valid for stays this summer. With this offer, you can earn double points on stays of two or more nights, which means you’re earning an extra 20 points per dollar spent. I value this at an incremental return of 6%.

I still have a hard time getting excited about Radisson Rewards in general, given the complexity between the Americas program vs. the rest of the global program, plus award nights being blocked at some of the company’s best properties (like the Radisson Blu Maldives), plus the uncertainty about the future of the program with the Choice takeover (though that may very well increase the value of the program over time).

Do you plan on taking advantage of this Radisson Rewards Americas promotion?

Ben--would you consider doing a post on the best strategy for what to with Radisson points? I know it's niche but I'm sure there are few people with a stash of points wondering what to do. Without the card annual bonus there is no way to top up the account. Same if you transfer it to the Rest of the World Radisson program. Do you anticipate an eventual conversion to Choice points?
