Hello from Florida! I had some domestic travel this week, but am happy to be home (as I shared in a post earlier in the week). 😉 I have my last full week at home, and then my international travel spree starts. Fortunately this gives me a chance to finally get caught up on trip reports, as I’ve been trying to do the past few weeks.

On the points & travel front, this week we saw a new 60K welcome bonus introduced on the Sapphire Preferred, British Airways and Emirates introduced bonus miles promos for flights, British Airways revealed their new business class, changes to Starbucks’ loyalty program were formally announced, EL AL and Virgin Atlantic announced new routes, and more.

With that out of the way, here’s a recap of this week on the blog:

I’m Over My Travel “Addiction,” And That’s A Good Thing

It’s fun to sometimes reflect on how perspectives change over time. I’ll be 29 next month. 30 is right around the corner. Time flies, and I still feel like a kid.

I started flying frequently at the age of 15, which means I’m going on having done a lot of travel for nearly half of my life. Many millions of miles and collectively years of jetlag later, I feel differently about some things than I used to.

Paying Taxes With Credit Cards

Ah, tax season.

As many Americans are starting to procrastinate finalize their tax returns, questions about earning points for making those payments always come up.

I pay all my estimated quarterly and annual taxes by credit card, so figured it would be helpful to go through the details of that for people who haven’t done it before or might need a refresher.

New 60,000 Point Welcome Bonus For Chase Sapphire Preferred

We’ve long considered the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card to be one of the most well-rounded cards out there, and also one of the best cards for beginners, given that it has a low annual fee, good return on spend, excellent perks and often has a generous welcome bonus.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is now offering a welcome bonus of 60,000 bonus Ultimate Rewards points after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first three months. We value Ultimate Rewards points at ~1.7 cents each, so that’s a bonus worth potentially $1020!

  1. Yes more trip reports by Lucky please. They remain the best part of this site by far. And (still) the best trip reports of anyone on the internet IMO, which is saying something given the million or so travel bloggers these days.

  2. @Bob Trial, what are you talking about?? The best parts of this site are the “Bonvoy”, “Air Belgium” and credit card articles imho. Also let’s not forget the massive value in the comments from Endre and
