On the points & travel front, this week Amex introduced new temporary card perks, Air Canada Aeroplan and Virgin Australia announced a new partnership, World of Hyatt bonus elite nights started to post, airlines banned emotional support animals, the Gulf blockade came to an end, and more.

Temporary American Express Card Perks For 2021

We have seen card issuers get creative when it comes to adding limited time perks, given how consumer behavior has changed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Around the middle of 2020 we saw temporary perks added to American Express cards, and that trend is continuing. In this post I wanted to keep a consolidated list of the benefits being added to American Express cards in 2021.

New Air Canada Aeroplan & Virgin Australia Partnership

Air Canada Aeroplan has done an incredible job adding airline partners outside the Star Alliance in recent months, as the program has added Etihad, Azul, Vistara, and Air Serbia.

Aeroplan has now announced yet another new partner — Virgin Australia will become an Air Canada Aeroplan partner as of January 19, 2021. While the two airlines have already codeshared for connectivity at Australian gateways, they haven’t had a frequent flyer partnership up until now.
