This is the first weekly review of the new year, so happy and healthy 2021 to everyone! Here’s to hoping that this is a much better year than 2020, and that this is also the year where we see the return of widespread international travel.
On the points & travel front, this was a fairly quiet week as you’d expect, given the two sets of holidays. We saw Chase introduce new spending bonuses, Amex introduce a new $30 monthly PayPal credit, JetBlue take delivery of its first Airbus A220, Etihad decrease its stake in Air Serbia, and more.
With that out of the way, here’s a recap of this week on the blog:
Around the new year I always like to share the most read OMAAT posts of the year. Suffice to say that 2020 has been unlike any other, and I’m excited for 2021. Not because stuff is suddenly going to change with the new year, but rather because there’s a light at the end of the tunnel in more than one way.
Credit card issuers have been offering all kinds of additional perks and bonuses on spending in order to keep cardmembers engaged in these difficult times.
For the past several months, Chase has been offering limited time spending bonuses on select cards. That trend is continuing, as Chase has just rolled out the first 2021 spending bonuses for cards.
Happy 2021! There’s a lot to be excited about with the new year. For one, 2021 isn’t 2020, so it has that going for it.
On the credit card front, one of the things that I ordinarily like about the new year is that certain annual benefits reset. One of those is the airline fee credits that are offered by several American Express cards. Based on the cards that I have, this is an opportunity to get hundreds of dollars of value per year.
In this post I wanted to talk a bit about the current state of Amex airline fee credits, given that it’s a new year, meaning that a lot of peoples’ credits have just reset.
