The Business Platinum® Card from American Express is a fantastic card that I consider to be well worth it for all the perks that if offers, including:
- A $200 annual airline fee credit
- Access to Amex Centurion Lounges
- Access to Delta SkyClubs when flying Delta same day
- A Priority Pass membership
- Free Hilton Honors and Starwood Preferred Guest Gold status
- Access to American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts
- Access to the Amex International Airline Program, which can save you a ton on premium airfare
- A TSA Pre-Check or Global Entry free credit, once every four years
- 10 Gogo wifi passes each calendar year
Access Amex Centurion Lounges with the Amex Business Platinum Card
While most of the benefits of The Platinum Card® from American Express and the business version of the card overlap, one of the unique features of the business version is that it offers 10 Gogo wifi passes per calendar year.
When you welcome for the card you have to activate the passes through this website, which is an easy process. Assuming you already have a Gogo account, they’ll simply deposit the wifi passes in your account, and they’ll be there to use instantly.
Historically you get the passes as soon as you sign up for the card, and then again at the beginning of the following year. However, for existing cardmembers it looks like they’ve deposited the 2018 passes early.
Those with the Amex Business Platinum Card should have received an email informing them that their 10 Gogo wifi passes for 2018 have already been deposited in their accounts. This is great if you’ve used all of your 2017 passes and have upcoming holiday travel, as you’ll be able to use them early.
Gogo’s cheapest all day passes sell for $19 each, so personally I value this benefit at ~$190 or so. On the down side, each of these is only valid for one segment. On the plus side, they’re even valid for international longhaul segments, where the cost of Gogo may otherwise be higher if paying cash.
However, for those who don’t plan well in advance, this could be worth even more. For example, on a recent Delta flight from New York to Los Angeles, a single flight pass cost $40, while an all day pass cost $50. Insane!
The Amex Business Platinum Card is incredibly valuable all around, and I think many people may be surprised by how quickly they’ll get an ROI on their annual fee. One of the benefits that differentiates the business card from the personal card is that it offers 10 Gogo wifi passes per year, so if you’re an existing cardmember who has enrolled for this benefit in the past, you should find 10 Gogo wifi passes in your account, valid through December 31, 2018.
