It has been a rough week (as I covered in a previous post), thought I’m happy to have a bit of downtime. Ford and I are supposed to go to Japan next week, and we’re still deciding whether or not to take that trip.

On the points & travel front, this week we saw a great new Amex Offer for Rimowa, Qantas opened reservations for their first ever “points plane,” Hilton and Lyft announced a new partnership, JetBlue announced they’re dropping Coke in favor of Pepsi, and more.

With that out of the way, here’s a recap of this week on the blog:

Review: Satri House Hotel Luang Prabang

Sorry for the delay on this folks — not to get too much into the sausage-making, but we had planned to pause this particular narrative while Ben finished sharing details on his trip to Sri Lanka, with the idea being that I’d publish the rest of this series while he was away on some planned travel for May. But sometimes life has other plans, so we’re regrouping a bit. I’ll finish this report out, and then we’ll figure things out from there.

Anyway.

This story left off, if you’ll recall, as we traveled to Laos after spending a chunk of time in Vietnam. While we would have loved to spend more time exploring other areas of Vietnam in more depth (and will absolutely return), we wanted to show our moms more of the region, which I think was a good choice in the end.

So. Luang Prabang.

Last Chance: Buy Alaska Miles With 50% Bonus (Best Price This Year!)

Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan is one of my favorite programs to buy miles from, both thanks to the frequency with which they sell miles, and what a good deal their redemptions can be.

In mid-April Alaska Mileage Plan launched their best promotion of the year on purchased miles.

If you’ve been considering this promotion but haven’t pulled the trigger, note that it expires on May 19, 2019, so you have just two days remaining to take advantage of this offer.

Incredible Deals With New Singapore KrisFlyer Award Promo

Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer program offers monthly “Spontaneous Escapes” deals, where they constantly have a list of flights that can be booked at a discount when redeeming miles.

Presumably they’re primarily discounting flights that they don’t anticipate being full, and where there’s a lot of award availability. This can be a really useful promotion.

This actually seems to be a really good list, as we see discounts on routes to five continents, which is more than usual.

For example, you can save 30% on KrisFlyer business class awards from Hong Kong to San Francisco, bringing the cost down to 62,300 miles one-way.

@ Aaron @ The nice Paul -- Yes, "working as designed" at the moment. Was causing some significant performance issues, particularly on mobile, so we've disabled that functionality until it can get fixed properly.

Go for the Japan trip if you can review any new products (plane or hotel)...
