United Quest℠ Card

  • 10x total miles on eligible United flights
  • 2x miles on dining
  • Free first and second checked bags
Learn More
The United Quest Card is arguably the most compelling card in the United lineup, with a moderate annual fee that's easy to justify thanks to $200 in annual United TravelBank cash and a 10,000-mile anniversary award flight discount, which together nearly offset the fee on their own. The rewards structure is solid for a co-branded airline card, with 10x total miles on eligible United flights, 2x miles on all other travel, dining, and select streaming, and 1x miles on everything else, plus free first and second checked bags for you and a companion. There are also credits with Instacart, JSX, rideshare, and Renowned Hotels and Resorts, though maximizing all of them takes some effort given the small monthly increments. It's best for United flyers who redeem miles at least occasionally and want a card with strong perks and an annual fee that's easy to recoup, without stepping up to the much pricier United Club Card. United Explorer Card

United℠ Explorer Card

Earn up to 60,000 bonus miles
  • Earn 9x total miles on eligible United flights
  • First Free Checked Bag
  • Two United Club Passes Annually
Learn More
The United Explorer Card is one of the more benefits-rich airline credit cards at its price point, offering two United Club passes annually, a free first checked bag for you and a companion, priority boarding, and 25% back on inflight purchases. The rewards structure is decent for a co-branded airline card, with 2x miles on dining and hotels, though there are better cards for everyday spending. There are also credits with Instacart, JSX, United Hotels, and rideshare, though maximizing all of them takes some effort given the small increments. It's best for occasional United flyers who don't have elite status and want a reasonably priced card with solid travel perks, and the first-year fee waiver makes it easy to try before committing to the $150 annual fee. While I think there’s big value to be had with premium credit cards that have annual fees, I know many people prefer cards with no annual fees. The United Gateway Card is a solid no annual fee airline credit card, and I’d say in the long term it compares on par to the products offered by American and Delta. United Gateway Card review
