During my whirlwind Aeroplan adventure, I had around four hours at Singapore Changi Airport, after landing from Bahrain in Gulf Air’s Boeing 787 business class, and prior to departing for Ho Chi Minh City in Singapore Airlines’ Boeing 787 business class.
Not only was I excited to spend some time at Changi Airport, but I was especially looking forward to checking out the new Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Lounge in Terminal 3. Over the past few years, Singapore Airlines has reimagined its lounges in Terminal 3, with some really positive changes, which were part of a S$50 million investment.
The old Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Business Lounge was just okay, if you ask me, especially as it had no natural light. Well, I’m happy to report that the new lounge is phenomenal — it’s much bigger than before, with natural light, great decor, a variety of seating options, and an excellent selection of food and drinks. Let’s get into the review…
In this post:
Singapore SilverKris Business Class Lounge location
Prior to this trip, I hadn’t been in Southeast Asia in over three years, so it was incredible to finally be back. Changi Airport is my favorite airport in the world, and being back here energized me so much, even though I was deliriously tired.
My Gulf Air flight arrived at Changi Terminal 3, so my first stop was the Singapore Airlines transit desk, to have my boarding pass printed (Gulf Air wasn’t able to print it, even though it was the same ticket, and online check-in didn’t work due to the type of itinerary). Fortunately that was taken care of within minutes.
I then headed to the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Lounge Terminal 3. While my flight was departing from Terminal 2, the two terminals are connected airside, and this lounge is much better.
Singapore Airlines’ lounges are located in the center of the terminal, closest to the A Gates. When you’re in the central shopping area, you’ll see an escalator leading up a level to the lounges.
The easiest way to identify the location of the lounge is by the art glass installation, featuring Singapore Airlines’ batik motif. This includes 105 handcrafted art glass pieces, and measures 12 meters wide and 3.8 meters tall, so it’s hard to miss.
The SilverKris Business Lounge, SilverKris First Lounge, and The Private Room, all share one main entrance, and then you’ll be pointed in the direction of the portion of the lounge you’re eligible to use.
Singapore SilverKris Business Class Lounge hours
The Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Lounge is open 24/7. Some people with long layovers choose to stay overnight in the lounge, which I assume is why it remains open. As a point of comparison, the adjacent SilverKris First Lounge is open daily from 5AM until 1AM.
Singapore SilverKris Business Class Lounge entry requirements
The Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Lounge is a standard Star Alliance business class lounge. All business class passengers on a departing Star Alliance flight have access to this lounge. Note that Star Alliance Gold members don’t get access to this lounge, but rather are sent to the inferior SilverKris Gold Lounge.
It’s interesting to see the approach different airlines take toward Star Alliance Gold lounge access. Some Star Alliance airlines (like Lufthansa) give Star Alliance Gold members access to better lounges than you’d get in business class, while Singapore Airlines has a worse lounge for these travelers.
Singapore SilverKris Business Class Lounge seating & layout
The first great thing about the new SilverKris Business Lounge is just how big it is. The old lounge was around 22,500 square feet, while the new lounge is over 32,000 square feet, so it’s about 40% bigger than before. The lounge has a capacity to accommodate up to 570 guests.
Unlike the previous lounge, the new one has tons of natural light, which in and of itself makes such a big difference in terms of the guest experience.
When you enter the lounge, you can either turn left or right, so let’s start by looking at the right side of the lounge, which is the smaller area. This is the part of the lounge with the most natural light and highest ceilings, as the space essentially opens up into the terminal.
There are rows of seats along the outer-edge of the lounge, and I appreciate the effort that was put into the design. This isn’t one of those lounges where every single seat looks the same, but this actually looks thoughtfully designed.
The center section largely has communal tables.
Then by the windows are some semi-private cubicles, which I’m a huge fan of. Singapore Airlines pretty consistently offers these in lounges, though they’re pretty rare elsewhere.
This area of the lounge also has the bar, though it has very limited hours, which I’ll discuss in more detail below (in the section about food & drinks).
Back toward the entrance is a small enclave with a row of high-top seating facing the terminal.
This is also the area where a customer service desk is located, in case you need any help with a reservation, as well as a small KrisShop gallery.
Once in the left part of the lounge, you’ll first find yourself in the main dining area. This consists of several buffets, high-top seating, and also lots of cafe-style tables along the walls.
Deeper into the lounge is a lot more seating, including swiveling seats, booths with tables, and more communal tables.
There’s also a rest area back here, but it was pretty busy when I visited, so I didn’t feel comfortable taking a picture.
Next, there’s a further section with seating just off the dining area, with a variety of more traditional lounge seating options. This area has individual seats with side tables, with plenty of choices depending on your seating preferences.
This area of the lounge also has a play room for kids.
Lastly, the back of this room has another area with more of those semi-private seats.
All-in-all, I thought the lounge’s seating was fantastic. I loved the variety of seating options, and the design felt high-end. A few further things to note:
- Wi-Fi in the lounge was fast and free
- There were power outlets at nearly all seats, as you’d expect for a newly designed lounge (but you’d be surprised…)
- I love the fact that the lounge has relaxing and elegant background music (you can listen to it on Spotify too, as Singapore Airlines publishes its boarding, landing, and lounge music there); not many lounges offer background music, but Singapore Airlines pulls it off well
- I appreciate how the lounge was comfortably busy during my stay; it was never packed, but also wasn’t empty
- The lounge cleaning staff were on top of things in terms of always clearing plates and glasses, and wiping down tables
Singapore SilverKris Business Class Lounge food & drinks
The Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Lounge has an impressive food selection, located at several different stations. The main buffet consisted primarily of hot food, with a focus on Asian dishes. There was everything from dim sum, to curry, to soup. And unlike some food you’ll find in lounges, the selection was actually very good — this wasn’t just some microwaved garbage.
On top of that, there were a few made to order options, including Japanese udon with chicken karaage, laksa, and se chuan spicy wanton in red oil.
I couldn’t leave Singapore without at least eating something, so I ordered the laksa. It was delicious, as you’d expect.
There was a separate buffet with cold options, which almost seemed to have a grab & go theme (I’m not sure if that’s the intent, but many things were packaged).
The buffet had cereal, fruit cups, sandwiches (pesto chicken, egg mayo, etc.), a cheese selection, a salad bar, and some desserts.
Separately there were several drink stations, with self-serve water, soda, beer, wine, and liquor.
There was self-serve Taittinger, which is pretty great for a lounge!
There was also an espresso machine. The drinks were high quality as far as machines go, but nothing can compare to one made by a barista.
And that brings me to my one criticism of the SilverKris Business Lounge. The lounge has a beautiful bar, but it has very limited hours. You can get a barista coffee from 6AM until 10AM, or you can get a cocktail made by a bartender from 5:30PM until 1AM.
Am I the only one who finds that to be unnecessarily prescriptive? Many passengers are traveling on Singapore Airlines between regions, so would it be too much to ask for a proper coffee at 11AM, or a proper cocktail at 4PM?
I just don’t get it. Is this a cost saving measure? Because this lounge is very well staffed, and I’m sure they could easily reassign someone. If it’s about consumption, I’m not sure consumption would actually change much, since you can make your own coffee and cocktails.
Please, Singapore Airlines, as a coffee lover, I beg you to extend the hours of this service. Pretty please?
Singapore SilverKris Business Class Lounge bathrooms & showers
Bathrooms have also gotten a big upgrade with the new SilverKris Business Lounge. There are a couple of sets of bathrooms, and they’re modern and couldn’t be cleaner. In fairness, you could basically eat off the floor of the public bathrooms at Changi Airport, so the cleanliness is hardly a differentiating factor.
On top of that, the lounge has shower suites, which I was happy to use, as I was in need of a shower at this point. The shower suites are also a great improvement over the old setup, and are legitimately nice.
I found the water pressure to be good. I was a bit surprised to find unbranded toiletries in the shower room. It’s not that the quality wasn’t good, but usually this kind of thing is such a marketing opportunity for toiletry brands, so I wonder what exactly is going on there.
Bottom line
The Singapore Airline SilverKris Business Lounge is fantastic. Not only is it a great lounge in absolute terms, but it’s such an improvement over the old lounge. It’s much bigger than before and has natural light. On top of that, it has lots of seating options, a huge selection of food and drinks, great shower suites, and constant cleaning.
What do you make of the new Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge Changi?
Got here on a weekday in March 2024. From noon to 6 PM. Initially, there plenty of seating options. As the day progressed, the lounge began to fill up, about 80% full by the time we departed.
Compared to my limited experience with business class lounges, this one was excellent. The facilities were clean and comfortable. The food was very good with many options. The staff were friendly and efficient. Plenty area to charge phones....

Does the lounge cater for those with gluten free needs and are dishes clearly labelled?
If you are arriving on a business class flight, can you use the lounge to freshen up?
To all those people who are gluten intolerant or celiac, Singapore airlines does a terrible job in their longes and on board. Be prepared to BYO something because other than fruit…. There’s not much else. The onboard service was a disgusting pasta which looked like mashed toddler food. Children could do a better job. Yes; I know gluten free pasta is notoriously hard to pull off but then that begs the question of why would...

I am arriving/J at 7pm and my connecting flight/J is after 13 hours at 8am. Can I doze off for few hours in this lounge? Will they let me in if the flight is on the next day? Otherwise, I have to book a room in one of the transit hotels or go to the city. Thanks.
Does anyone here know if shower shoes are provided when using Silverkris shower rooms? Thank you in advance. - Al
We are arriving from AKL and have 2hr 55m before our connection to AMS.. I presume you can’t prebook the showers?? How bad is it at this hour if anyone has recently done this? Any advice welcomed. I do hope if it’s packed they will allow us to use the showers in another lounge!
Both times I went it was rammed, food wasn't great and was almost impossible to find a seat. Wasn't impressed at all esp given Singapore's reputation
Hello, does anyone know if the place is pack around 2 AM? We have a flight arriving around 130 AM and our next flight is not until 9 AM.
I couldn't agree more with dfw88, I went the T3 lounge in 9/2022 & it was pandemonium, jamedpack, impossible to find place to sit, noisy& the atmosphere was that of a factory cafeteria, much preferred the old lounge which was a place where you could relax in a quiet environment.
MGL
Lucky you were there at the quietest time of the day. Like many others it's a zoo and last Friday evening people were going to the new Gold lounge which is actually a HUGE improvement saying I can't get a seat in the business lounge! In any event, it's not half as good as the Cathay business lounges in HK and for me it's the differentiator between CX & SQ.
It's wild that the self-serve bar is all this bottom-shelf liquor and then... Bowmore 10???
I arrive at T3 on a Singapore flight flying economy class from Bali around 3.30pm and fly to Sydney in business class on Singapore Airlines at 00.15 am. Can I check my bags and get my boarding pass for the Sydney flight when checking in in Bali? At what time can I enter the lounge?
For a point of comparison the Star Alliance Gold Lounge is terrible. It has some of the worst food selection I've seen at a premium lounge - mostly rice, noodles and other starches. The alcohol selection is equally poor. You know something is wrong when both Priority Pass lounges in Singapore Terminal 3 have better food.
Agree with all your points but you missed the nap room! THE place to be during evening 'zoo' rush hours...
I spent 6 hours on lay over leg newark to perth in the lounge. Found it clean, staff friendly, food good. My wife loved the couch. Plenty of charging ports for electronics.we were there late afternoon till just before midnight, saw 3 flows ( surges) of people they were busy at those times people looking for comfort seats. Over all Found the lounge well presented and maintained.Staff were on the ball.
Is it correct that lounge access is only available 3 hours prior to flight departure for business class passengers? How do you book the showers?
I found this lounge completely underwhelming. It was hot as hell, I had to move several times as outlets did not work, and the wine selection was tragic.
You obviously haven't been there at peak times in the evenings around 10pm onwards. I have been there on 3 occasions and every time it is packed to the rafters with no place to sit snd relax. After scouring the lounge for over 10 minutes on last occasion in late January gave up and left. Found a much quieter snd peaceful spot in the main terminal area. While it might be larger than before it is not much good if it is always packed, busy and noisy.
Have to add to the zoo theme aswell, came off a bkksin flight heading back to syd 0030 dpt and found no seats available in the t3 business lounge. Likewise for getting a bite to eat what was put out was gone in a minute. Basically walked out within a minute after not being able find a seat and went to the adjacent silverkris Gold lounge which had seating available. Great lounge.....only when not packed.
Was there June 2022. Was not impressed with the lounge and it was too crowded. My wife and I both thought the layout of the old lounge was much nicer. A crowded lounge is not relaxing and we chose to leave and eat at one of the many restaurants that was way more relaxing.
[sighs] Some people are impossible to please..
Is there a place to store luggage? Family has several connecting flights in Bus though here in a month and some 8-12 hour layovers. Would live to go see Singapore and this would be an easy place to drop bags?
I don't think the lounge has that particular amenity. But if you pass thru immigration, there are paid luggage storage services available for a very reasonable fee in all three terminals. I've used it a few times in the past.
Is there any chance of using this (or any other) lounge when I'm arriving SQ J, but departing economy?
Not any more unless you are a PPS member. Entry into this lounge now depends on the class of your departing flight, not arriving. If you are *G, you will be directed to the Krisflyer Gold lounge down the hall which is decent but not as "exclusive"
No. You can only access the SilverKris lounge prior to a flight if you have an onward business class ticket. You cannot use it if you have just arrived from flying business class but are flying out in economy. But check your *Alliance status [if you have it] as you may be able to access the KrisFlyer Gold lounge which is a step down from the SilverKris lounge.
Was there a few weeks ago before SQ24 to JFK. Amazing lounge with one of the best showers ! Food was delicious but had to try hard from trying everything on the buffet to keep room for the excellent inflight food!
If I was flying UA, would have filled up on food from lounge and got some togo as well !
Just used this lounge last week. Got some breakfast before a morning flight to Seattle. It was busy, but no trouble finding a seat or getting food.
Great review, thanks!
Is entry upon arrival in J from LAX allowed? Is there another arrivals lounge?
And one more question if I can; do you use arrival lounges if you have checked luggage? I did until a couple years ago when someone inadvertently took my bag (niw I usually scurry to the carousel).
You can enter the lounge if you are transiting and have an onward J class ticket. But this is not an arrivals lounge per se, like what BA has at LHR. SQ lounges are primarily for departing pax, not arriving ones. But you can pay a fee to access an airside hotel to freshen up (deal includes a shower and light breakfast, I think?).
Great lounge inside a great airport. Enough said.
We were there in July 2022 from Singapore to Newark...the lounge was huge and very busy. We enjoyed ourselves with all the amenities they had especially the bar and dinning area. The concierge desk in the front was perfect. Above all we really were impressed and we enjoyed our short stay in their lounge.
I was hoping your criticism about their sleeping zone. I think they could squeeze more bed in that area and try to improve its privacy as well.
Lucky you visited it only now. Things have improved a lot recently.
This lounge was a complete zoo in Q2/2022 when Singapore opened up, as it was still the only SQ lounge in Changi for any pax with any kind of lounge access.
People couldn’t find seats and they were literally giving them vouchers to enter the SATS “priority pass” lounge next door to find a seat.
Nowadays lounge eligible passengers are spread...

Nowadays lounge eligible passengers are spread out over this T3 Silverkris lounge + The Private Room + T3 First Class lounge + T3 Star gold lounge + T2 First Class lounge + T2 Silverkris lounge + T2 star gold lounge.
The place is packed at night. I was there in October when I had a midnight departure with SWISS to Zurich. There wasn't an empty seat in the entire lounge. I spent four hours there and never saw the crowds thin out.
How would you compare the lounge to CXs The Wing/The Pier? I would've loved daybeds in a secluded area similar to the setup they have at The Pier. But hey, I love bidets, so that's a plus. I wish more lounges (outside of Japan) offered bidets in their lounges.
Nice. I’m flying SQ Business into SIN and have SQ Gold elite status. Is there any SQ lounge access for arrival?
Typically no access when on arrival
You got lucky. In the evening, before the evening rush of departures, the lounge is an absolute zoo. It took 10 minutes to find a place to sit, the showers were booked for four hours (no joke!), and the food disappeared as soon as they brought it out. While it may be better than the old one (I have no idea, I never visited the old one) it's still too small. It was a really bad way to start off a long journey in SQ business class.
He is "Lucky"
I can vouch for that. The evening bank is absolutely a zoo.
The entire lounge gets completely packed with almost no seats available in any of the sections. Line-ups everywhere for food. Pure chaos.
Agreed on late evening as regional flights arrive to connect with overnight international journeys. Hard to find anywhere to settle and young children playing catch. Just wasn't relaxing though I agree at quieter times the experience would be very different.
I'm curious for my own upcoming trip; any experience of it in the mornings, say from 630am-900am?
At that time of the morning you will almost have the place to yourself.
Thanks jack, appreciate the response.
I spent a couple of hours in the lounge back in November from a little before 6AM until 8:00. It was pretty busy but not packed. There was about a 45 minute wait for the showers at that point. The one complaint I had was that the wifi was really spotty until just after 7. I figure someone started their shift and fixed the issue.
All in all an excellent lounge.
Agreed. Evening around 8 pm to the last flight is too pack
