Double miles for the rest of the year for those with Delta credit cards

Here’s a promotion from Delta/Northwest that’s not targeted and is pretty unrestrictive (finally!). Those with Delta SkyMiles credit cards can earn double miles for travel between July 1 and the end of the year. Best of all, you don’t even have to pay with your Delta credit card and it’s even valid for tickets booked before July 1. Registration is required by September 30.

  1. But can you get even more if you do pay with the card? From the e-mail I got from NW:

As a WorldPerks member, you earn miles on nearly every flight. Now, through this special offer, you can earn double miles on paid flights for the next six months, just by having the Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express.

Here’s where it gets even better. If you use your Delta SkyMiles Credit Card to pay for your flight, you can earn double miles on Delta and Northwest purchases* with the Credit Card. That’s what we call double dipping.

  2. Yep Dan, if the purchase is $200 for your ticket you’d get 400 miles instead of 200 miles. So it’s not doubling the total miles, but rather doubling the miles for the purchase.

  3. Yes, but: I called Delta, and unless I misunderstood them or they me, these miles are simply bonus, they do not count towards elite status.
