The InterContinental Grand Stanford is easily the best value in Hong Kong, especially as a Royal Ambassador. I’ve stayed here twice before, and you can read the review from my first stay here and the review from my second stay here. In the past they have been stingy with Royal Ambassador upgrades, but the recession seems to have gotten the best of them. They now offer Royal Ambassadors that book a basic room either a harbor view room with club access or a city view suite without club access.
Since we were spending three nights in Hong Kong we decided to spend the first night at the Grand Stanford and the second two nights, which were over a weekend, at the other InterContinental (and use a Buy One Get One Free Weekend Night Certificate for that stay). This one night stay cost about $150USD plus tax, which is very reasonable by Hong Kong standards.
Upon arrival at the hotel we were escorted to the club lounge for check-in, where we were promptly helped. The agent confirmed our room upgrade and explained the hours of operation for the club lounge, which are as follows:
Breakfast: 7:00AM-11:00AM
Afternoon Tea: 3:00PM-5:00PM
Evening Cocktails: 6:00PM-8:30PM
Lobby
We headed up to our room on the 11th floor, which boasted a nice harbor view (although not nearly as nice as the view from the other InterContinental, as you’ll see in the next installment).

Beds
While the rooms aren’t huge, the beds are probably the most comfortable of any hotel I’ve stayed at in Asia. As a Royal Ambassador we also got free internet and all the drinks in the minibar were complimentary.

The welcome gift consisted of a box of chocolates, some apples, and some sweet cake thing.

The club lounge in the hotel is quite nice, and reasonably priced for those that aren’t Royal Ambassadors. The evening spread is decent, with good drinks and great service, while the breakfast spread is fantastic, with an extensive buffet as well as cooked-to-order items from a menu.

The hotel has a walkway which connects to the Avenue of Stars, although isn’t particularly central. Nonetheless it’s only about a 15 minute walk to the Kowloon Star Ferry terminal.
I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. The Grand Stanford is a fantastic value, especially for one night at the beginning or end of a trip. Priority Club only gives a fixed number of points for stays at InterContinental hotels, regardless of whether it’s an $80 one night stay or a two week stay in a $5,000 presidential suite. As a result it’s advantageous to hop around hotels, and that alone is a reason to hop around in Hong Kong. I hope the Grand Stanford continues with their recently improved upgrade policies well beyond the recession.
Looks nice Lucky. I'm booked there next week enroute to DPS and PEK. 2 separate 1 night stays. Booked King room, upgraded to 1 KNG BED DELUXE CITY VIEW SUITE ( RA upgrade)
Also booked IC Bali and HKG Financial Street.
@ Eric -- Yes, they were rather close together. There was a very small table in the center, which was lower than bed level.
Boy, looks nice, especially the club space! It's odd that the beds are so close together, though - was there even a table between them?
