Not Satire: Influencer Says Airline Rules Don’t Apply To Him, He’ll Do As He Wants

This might just be the most entitled influencer I’ve ever seen, and that’s saying something…

Influencer doubles down on violating airline rules

Yesterday, I wrote about how an airline and travel content creator made a post about how Qatar Airways needs to do a better job providing good service to influencers, because on three of four flights, he was asked not to record the crew, while he and his wife (who is “the kindest person you’ll meet”) boarded with cameras, videoing the cabin and crew as they boarded.

Virtually every airline has a policy against recording crew members without their permission, but he insists that they should first let him record his content, and then he can blur their faces after the fact, so they don’t ruin his content. Oh, but then he proceeded to post the video of the crew without blurring their faces.

Generally when people are called out for their entitled behavior, they respond in one of three ways — they go quiet, they apologize, or they double down. Well, want to guess which approach this guy took? Oh, did he ever double down in response to comments.

Frankly, most of his responses to others are just so absurd. For example, when someone proposed he simply film after passing the crew members upon boarding, he claimed “it wrecks the whole video, I have a format on how I record videos because I know they perform when recorded that way.”

But nothing compares to his response to someone who pointed out that if his “experience” falls apart because the crew enforces basic boundaries, that’s on him, and not the airline:

well my bubble ain’t broken, but guess what, in my world, neither you nor some employee is gonna tell me what I can record or NOT record on my experiences, and just like you if they do, I have no issues in telling them where to go.

Difference is, yes I am paying for the experience, if you ain’t adding to it, stay the F*** away cause I don’t want your energy around me.

So this guy is literally saying he doesn’t care what airline employees say, because no one is going to tell him what he can and can’t record.

Also, I of course have no bias against those redeeming points, because that’s how I book most of my flights. And I think those redeeming points deserve respect, like any other passenger. But when he keeps justifying his poor behavior by pointing out how he’s “paying for the experience” while redeeming points, well that reeks of absurd entitlement. Dude, I’m sure Qatar Airways can live without your points redemption “business.”

Rules apparently don’t apply to influencers

“But you shouldn’t give this guy any attention!”

Understandably, some people might ask why I’m even giving this guy any attention. After all, we live in a world where many people operate under the system of “any publicity is good publicity.” You’re right, certain people probably shouldn’t get the negative attention, because they thrive on that.

But I don’t think this is the case here at all. Quite to the contrary, I really do think this is getting under his skin, given the extent to which this guy is being defensive and doubling down. If he’s unbothered by this feedback, he wouldn’t be responding this way.

Frankly, this guy’s whole online presence strikes me as being very… umm, insecure? I’m not saying the guy bought most of his followers, but he has nearly 500K followers, and gets no comments (or a couple of comments) on much of his content. Makes you wonder, eh?

Also, this dude’s level of gaslighting is next level. In reference to the video, he claims he “actually didn’t record him, I recorded his hands lol, because I know specifically in this airline they make a huge deal about it, so a purposely didn’t record his face, but I figured I’d post it to create so debate and it’s working lol.” Yeah, man, lol.

By the way, if someone wants to tag @daddisnacks in all of this (he’s the ultimate anti-influencer), I think this would be a great opportunity. 😉 “Lol.”

Boy, wouldn’t it be funny if Qatar Airways banned this guy?

Bottom line

An influencer took to social media to complain how Qatar Airways doesn’t cater to influencers enough, and that they should let content creators film employees, without interrupting them. That violates airline rules, but he doesn’t care.

What’s amazing is the extent to which he’s doubling down on his take. In response to critical comments, he says that no one is going to tell him what he can and can’t do.

What do you make of this whole situation?

This is what lifetime no-fly bans are for.

He may never fly Qatar anymore as he will likely be banned - otter airlines may follow
Hard to influence if you can’t travel

What a jerk. There are many good reasons a company would have for not filming employees. Individuals have a right to not be recorded at work, too. It could actually be dangerous for some. He needs to be banned.

Based on what I saw on his terrible Instagram account I think “influencer” is pushing it. I suspect he’s like other annoying MLM-adjacent pyramid schemers on social media who buy a bunch of followers, pretend they’re rich and call themselves entrepreneurs. The interaction his posts get doesn’t match the number of followers he has and it mainly comes from other wannabe influencers who are presumably in engagement pods with him.

"Gorgeous Wife", where did he say that?? He said Kindest Person in his post, but my bet is that @daddisnacks wife is a brainwashed bubbleheaded idiot because that is the only person that would marry this self-absorbed narcissist! BTW, not that it matters and I will not give him the benefit of opening his posts to view him, what is this douchebag's nationality? Just curious??

Fear not. The backlash against 'influencers' has well and truly begun. I noticed Kellogs Australia has been releasing a series of clever ads ridiculing the whole 'influencer' lifestyle (depicted as out-of-touch, moronic, pretentious). When big corporations pick up the feeling on the street that's it's now safe to mock something, you know they're cooked.

Pull some of these people off the internet, then pull them off planes.

      Can you explain further?

  11. No Name Guest

Basing your opinions about someone because he follows someone on instagram is wrong on many levels. Maybe he is following for awarenss reasons being up to date with all things going on and creating a broad picture of current information posted by all parties (Trump, Putin, Zelensky, Netanyahu, Xi…). Some people are willing to form their objective opinions based on a spectre of information.

What a poorly bred individual who firstly has zero grasp of the English language and secondly has no respect for the people performing their duties . Qatar should absolutely blacklist this individual and teach him a lesson, at this point we’ve seen everything there is to see on an airline irrespective of what class , seriously what major changes are there

I really think the airlines need to band together and create their own "do not serve" list. You get banned from one airline for this type of crap, the other follow suit!

Putting aside what a jerk he is, from a practical standpoint how is this even sustainable for him. If he gets banned from the airlines people care most about, what is he going to do for content? People will eventually stop watching.

Secondly, while I understand Ben's attitude in re: giving the guy attention ("as long as they spell my name right"), I cannot understand why either Qatar (or other airline on which he displays such blatant disregard for the rules) doesn't remove him from the flight, ban him for life, and/or at the very least confiscate his video camera/phone/device on which he has made his recording against the rules, and delete it -- returning the device to him as he deplanes the aircraft...

What value does a person like that adds to anybody’s live or travel experience. They don’t discover new locations, they don’t create a. Ew service experience, they don’t increase or decrease cost of travel. Influencing is just the shallowest form of narcism. All information is available online without for everything without need of narration by narcissists.

Also (and not to defend him at all as he sells Ponzi schemes and has a horrible attitude), a lack of firm boundaries from the airline. Just like smoking, they should make filming rules explicitly clear.

Additionally, there is this constant argument that money doesn’t buy class, but for the majority, if you made your own money, you are generally quite humble.

Rich people are humble, people who think they are rich behaves in manners such as this example.

But to keep saying “he follows Trump explains it all” or blaming it all on being an influencer is exactly the reason society will always be divided. It’s easier to jump to face value conclusions.

If airlines banned all jerks there would suddenly be the need for about half as many flights as there are now. Is that really what you want? And who gets to define “jerk”? You?

Proof that money doesn’t buy class.

I am aware of someone who told an influencer to stop filming in the direction of his family and children, and refused to do so.

After being able to find the video online, with some help, he took legal action against the influencer. Apparently instagram suspended the account and he won damages. I believe this is quite rare though.

The Americans needed to be photographed because American Customs did the same for Brazilians arriving in the US. Seems that the guy lift one of his fingers when they were taking the pic.
