Weekly Review: June 05, 2021

I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far!

I know it has been quite a week of transition here at OMAAT as we launched the new site. We hear the feedback loud and clear, and we're working on making some significant updates. These won't all happen overnight, so we appreciate your patience and continued feedback.

Just to give you a sense of where we're at, the focus this week has been on making adjustments in the following key areas:

  • Accessibility (improving contrast, adjusting the "i" in the font)
  • Wayfinding (adding labels, providing more direction to /blog for those who prefer that experience)
  • Logins (oddly, some email clients were adding characters to our password reset links, making them invalid -- this should be mostly squared away now, but if you're still having issues feel free to contact us at the email listed in the reset email and we'll keep working through them one-by-one)
  • Comments (doubling width of conversation panel on desktop, removing ads, adding timestamps, loading more comments on first click, clarifying labels)

There are other technical "behind the scenes" adjustments as well that likely aren't that interesting to most readers, but we thought it might be helpful to see how we're prioritizing your feedback, and know that we'll keep making adjustments.

If you have more thoughts you'd like to share, we're keeping a master thread going here in the Q&A.

On the points & travel front, this week I had quite a Marriott hotel stay, United Airlines ordered up to 50 supersonic aircraft, Alaska & Emirates announced they'd cut their partnership, American AAdvantage launched a new elite status promotion, Chase launched a huge 100K bonus on the Sapphire Preferred, and a Hyatt Place hotel added a 3.5% energy charge.

I hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend, and thanks for your patience!
