US Airways offers 100% bonus on purchased miles….. again!

I’m guessing by now most of you have all the US Airways miles you could possibly need. Relative to past promotions (like the holiday bonus or past 100% bonus offers) this isn’t as good of a deal, especially since US Airways recently “enhanced” their award chart and raised the price of purchasing miles by a quarter of a cent a piece, but in absolute terms it’s still a great deal. There’s a limit of 50,000 miles to be doubled (at the rate of 2.75 cents per mile). As Gary points out, you’re getting 100,000 miles for $1,478 including tax, which is enough for a business class award ticket to Europe. Not a bad deal!

With the number of times they’re running this promotion I really have to wonder why they limit the number of miles that can be doubled. Seems like the offer is working out well for them if they keep offering it!

  1. Cheaper than doing MR ($200 average roundtrip=10,000 miles including bonus x 10 trip = 100,000 miles =$2,000)
But you don’t get EQM status miles, still good deal. Make sure you book 21 days in advance because there’s an expedite service fee, very expensive.
