There are many ways that airlines try to differentiate themselves in first and business class, from the inflight product, to the ground experience. In some cases the ground experience starts before you even get to the airport, as some airlines offer complimentary chauffeur service to and from the airport. In this post, I’d like to take a closer look at which airlines offer this.
In this post:
Airlines offering complimentary limousine service
Some airlines offer first and business class passengers a complimentary chauffeur service, as a way of providing a differentiated experience. Unfortunately over the years we’ve seen these opportunities decrease significantly. Not only have several airlines eliminated their chauffeur service option, but even those airlines that offer it have added more restrictions.
Ultimately I can understand why some airlines struggle with justifying offering chauffeur service. While it’s of course nice to have a door-to-door experience, many premium flyers are traveling for business, and presumably they can expense transportation to and from the airport as well. Many airlines just found that they couldn’t charge a premium that justified this, so some airlines (like Virgin Atlantic) have eliminated it.
With that out of the way, let me share the airlines that currently offer chauffeur service, ranked roughly based on how readily available the service is.
Emirates first & business class chauffeur service
Dubai-based Emirates Airline offers the most readily available chauffeur service:
- This is available at most destinations worldwide, on both arrival and departure
- First and business class passengers can take advantage of this; however, award tickets, tickets upgraded from economy, and “basic” business class fares, aren’t eligible for this service
- The flight must be marketed and operated by Emirates to be eligible
- This can be reserved more than 12 hours before departure through the booking management tool
- There are maximum distances that can be traveled, but they differ by city (it’s generally going to be around 50 miles, though in the United Arab Emirates, you can be driven anywhere in the country)
At this point Emirates is the only airline that offers chauffeur service nearly globally, with few restrictions.

Etihad Airways first & business class chauffeur service
Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways offers chauffeur service, primarily at its hub, but also globally, in some cases:
- This is only available when arriving in or departing from Abu Dhabi, unless you’re traveling in The Residence or on a first class Deluxe fare, in which case it’s valid globally
- The Abu Dhabi chauffeur service is valid for first and business class passengers, and for business class, it must be a Comfort or Deluxe fare
- Etihad Guest award tickets are only eligible for the service if they’re booked in one of the eligible fare bundles, noted above (since Etihad now aligns fare bundles on cash and award tickets); all partner award tickets aren’t eligible
- The flight must be marketed and operated by Etihad to be eligible
- This can be reserved more than 12 hours before departure through the booking management tool
- The chauffeur service is valid for travel to anywhere in the UAE

Riyadh Air business class chauffeur service
Riyadh Air offers chauffeur service exclusively at its hub in Riyadh:
- The chauffeur service is valid when arriving at or departing from Riyadh
- All international business class passengers can take advantage of this, regardless of fare class
- The chauffeur service has to be reserved more than six hours before departure
- The chauffeur service is offered in partnership with Blacklane, so there’s a tech integration there, as this can be booked through the Riyadh Air app
- The chauffeur service is valid for up to 50 kilometers of travel

Turkish Airlines business class chauffeur service
Istanbul-based Turkish Airlines offers chauffeur service, but only at select airports:
- This service isn’t available in Istanbul, but rather is available at outstations in the United States and Canada, but only if flying to or from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha, Kuwait, Beirut, Tel Aviv, Tehran, Cairo, Bombay, Delhi, Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Dhaka, Nairobi, Riyadh, Dammam, Amman, Jeddah and Bahrain
- Business class passengers can take advantage of this if they paid cash for their ticket (in fare classes C, D, J, K, and Z), but award tickets and upgraded tickets aren’t eligible
- The flight must be marketed and operated by Turkish to be eligible
- This can be reserved more than 24 hours before departure through the booking management tool
- The chauffeur service is valid for up to 35 miles of travel

Air China first & business class chauffeur service
Beijing-based Air China offers chauffeur service, but only at select airports in China:
- This service is only available at select airports in China, including Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Tianjin, and Xi’an
- First and business class passengers must be traveling to or from Europe, the Americas, Africa, or Oceania, in fare classes F, A, J, C, D, Z, or R; this means award tickets don’t qualify
- The flight must be marketed and operated by Air China to be eligible
- This can be reserved more than 48 hours before departure through this page
- The distance you can travel varies by city

Kuwait Airways first & business class chauffeur service
Kuwait-based Kuwait Airways offers chauffeur service, but only at its Kuwait City hub:
- This is only available when arriving in or departing from Kuwait City
- First and business class passengers can take advantage of this regardless of how they booked their ticket
- The flight must be marketed and operated by Kuwait Airways to be eligible
- This can be reserved more than 24 hours before departure through the booking management tool
- The chauffeur service is valid for travel to anywhere in Kuwait

Air France first class chauffeur service
Air France offers chauffeur service in limited markets, including in France:
- This service is available when departing or arriving in Paris, Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, and Nice
- Only first class passengers are eligible for this; award tickets qualify, while those who upgraded don’t qualify
- The flight must be marketed and operated by Air France to be eligible
- This can be reserved more than six hours before departure by calling Air France
While this is the biggest market in which Air France offers chauffeur service, the airline also offers chauffeur service in select other markets, including in Dubai, though the terms there are even stricter.

Korean Air first class chauffeur service
Korean Air offers chauffeur service exclusively at its Seoul Incheon hub:
- This service is available exclusively between Seoul Incheon and the Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon area, on both arrival and departure
- Only first class passengers are eligible for this; award tickets, upgrades, and codeshare flights, don’t qualify
- The flight must be marketed and operated by Korean Air to be eligible
- This can be reserved more than 48 hours before departure by calling Korean Air

Starlux Airlines first class chauffeur service
Starlux Airlines offers chauffeur service to first class passengers at its Taipei hub:
- This service is available on arrival or departure in Taipei
- The chauffeur service can be used between Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County/City, and Keelung City
- Only first class passengers are eligible for this
- The flight must be ticketed and operated by Starlux to be eligible
- This can be reserved more than two business days before departure through Starlux’s website

SriLankan Airlines business class chauffeur service
Once again this is very niche, but SriLankan offers chauffeur service in London for passengers traveling to and from Colombo:
- This service is available when departing or arriving in London
- Only business class passengers on full fare tickets issued by SriLankan Airlines are eligible
- The chauffeur service is valid for up to 45 miles of travel
- This can be reserved more than 30 hours before departure by calling SriLankan Airlines
It’s interesting how SriLankan Airlines offers this for just one airport, especially since the airline faces no nonstop competition in the market. While London is premium, I can’t imagine this is what will push people over the edge to book SriLankan.

Other airlines offer tarmac transfers
As you can see, this post is specifically about airlines offering a chauffeur service to and from the airport. This is different than some of the airlines that offer tarmac transfers between planes and lounges. For example:
- Lufthansa first class passengers get driven to the plane from the Lufthansa First Class Terminal in Frankfurt, and in some situations, from the Lufthansa First Class Lounge Munich
- Air France first class passengers get driven to and from the Air France La Premiere Lounge in Paris
- There are some other airlines that offer this on a surprise and delight basis, including American for Concierge Key members, United for Global Services members, British Airways for first class passengers, Air Canada for business class passengers, and more

Bottom line
To differentiate themselves, some airlines offer first and business class passengers complimentary limousine service to and from the airports. It’s always awesome when this is offered, as it creates a seamless experience, and also provides extra value.
Unfortunately these opportunities are much more limited than in the past. Several airlines have cut this service altogether, while other airlines added fare class restrictions. At this point there aren’t any readily available award tickets that come with chauffeur service anymore.
If you’ve used an airline chauffeur service, what was your experience like? And did I miss any airlines offering this service?
I don't think Emirates offers the chauffeur service on some of their shorter fifth freedom flights
Hi Ben,
Starlux also provides chauffeur service on departure from and arrival on Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport. I just redeemed a Starlux first class ticket from Bangkok to Tokyo Narita via Taipei, and I was offered a free car service from my Bangkok hotel to airport, as well as arrival and departure from Taipei during my 16 hours layover. I just confirmed all three car service reservations for my flights next week. So you can...

Spooky timing that this topic has come up today. I booked business‑class flights yesterday from Frankfurt to Sydney, which include a 15.5‑hour overnight layover in Abu Dhabi. I paid extra for the advertised price and upgraded to “business comfort level” because it specifically included the chauffeur service — something I’ve used before and found convenient and reliable. I paid extra for the advertised price and upgraded to “business comfort level” because it specifically included the chauffeur service — something I’ve used before and found convenient and reliable. During the booking process, the screen showed no exclusions. But once the booking was completed, I couldn’t actually reserve the chauffeur. When I contacted customer service, they said terms stated transit is not included. These terms are not shown anywhere in the booking process or the details on the chauffeur service, so it feels like misleading advertising.
I’ve tried to resolve it with them but got nowhere. Essentially, you don’t receive what was advertised. I’m not concerned about lounge access — I’d rather just go to a hotel — but the lack of transparency is frustrating.
@ TJROB -- There's no denying that's super frustrating based on how it's marketed, especially since Emirates does offer chauffeur service during transits.
However, looking at the terms, I do see the following restriction listed:
"3.1. Etihad UAE Chauffeur is not available in the following scenarios:
3.1.4. Transit bookings."
Admittedly one shouldn't have to search the terms & conditions to find this out, but this does seem to be consistent with their...

I used this service many times, until about 2017. Then airlines started to implement fare families and excluded the lower Business Class fare families (as confirmed by this overview). Additionally, also the distance was reduced or is now calculated on the basis of actual road distance rather than the distance as the crow flies. Perhaps the exception (for now) is the new kid on the block: Riyadhair.
Actually based on this article :
https://pinterpoin.com/luar-biasa-garuda-indonesia-menawarakan-free-airport-transfer-toyota-alphard-untuk-penumpang-business-first-class/
Garuda just launched its chaffeur service for first class, business class and platinum
@ Anonymous -- Wow, seems it was just added, so trying to verify if this is accurate. Very cool, if so. I also love the Toyota Alphard, heh.
The writer said he's trying on a few days so contacting him might be a good idea
To say more about what I know:
1. British Airways does not provide cars for first-class passengers. This is only available for GGLFL (GGL Lifetime) or Premier customers.
2. Lufthansa and probably Swiss do a car pick-up service for HON Circle members leaving from Dubai who bought their tickets there.
3. Swiss: First Class passengers and HON Circle members are given a vehicle when the plane they are on is at a remote...

When you arrive, a bus will take you to Terminal A, but only if you are travelling in First Class. For all other passengers, a vehicle will be provided for urgent connections with a layover of less than one hour.
Also, First Class and HON Circle members have their own vehicle for getting between Terminals A and E and back again. These are usually minivans, but BMWs are also available if you ask. (But this is not guaranteed…)
4. An Austrian Airlines limousine service is available when the departure and arrival gates are at remote stands. You can only use this service if you are a member of the Hon Circle or if you are travelling in First Class on the same day.
Air France offers a private car transfer to ultimate members at CDG when an aircraft is parked at a remote stand.
, for connections.
Doesn’t Garuda Indonesia still offer chauffeur service for passengers on its admittedly barebones First Class network?
@ KATA -- I removed mention of that because best I can tell, the airline has completely stopped selling first class, and that has been the case for weeks now.
OK. This will be a niche comment but in case it helps someone.
Turkish has removed Tel Aviv from the cities that benefit from this arrangement. As a matter of fact, Turkish no longer flies to Tel Aviv, as I found out recently.
A bit of a shame. there were times where they offered as many as 10 flights a day between TLV and IST. Was a great way to get there from Asia.
Isn’t TLV in Asia?
I’ve often had a chauffeur between terminals at KUL with MH even when flying economy (I’m OneWorld Emerald). They’ve had BMW 7 series in the past. I don’t think it applies outside the terminal but it’s a nice way to get between terminals esp when in Y
@ Pabloinkosi -- Indeed, experienced it earlier this year as well, and that was awesome:
https://onemileatatime.com/insights/malaysia-airlines-private-terminal-transfer/
Trans Maldivian in conjunction with Rangali Island Conrad will transport you from the International Terminal to their lounge located in the Seaplane terminal. Business class gets a private car.
I can confirm for Turkish that tickets upgraded with miles in advance ARE eligible for the chauffeur service.
Only one I've used personally was EK Business, and ironically, they used Blacklane for where I was traveling to coordinate (that was before the Citi Strata Elite Blacklane credit, and BILT partnership, if they ever do more than just have it as "Coming Soon" on the BILT Cash redemptions...)
Ben, the air france links don’t link to relevant pages on air france. one links to an air france first class page that makes no mention of the chauffeur service, and the other links to a chauffeur service limited only to Dubai bookings.
@ FoulOwl -- Updated the links, thank you!
LX has some cars for incoming F pax on short connections or to get to terminal E, but terminal E mostly gets vans now.
The Emirates chauffer service makes live hella' easy for me, and I love it, along with the hotel provided on longer stopovers.
Between EK and La Premier, you really get around, Willy. Also, nice use of 'hella,' sir. How very 'East Bay' of you. In NYC, go with 'mad' easy. If it were the 90s, throw-in a 'booyah' or a 'waazaaap.'
