BEN SAYS: The British Airways Lounge Miami sets the new global lounge standard for the airline, with a refreshed design motif. Beyond that, this is an excellent lounge with great views, a full bar, and focus pods. What a nice addition to the Miami lounge scene!

To kick off my two-part birthday trip to the Golden Triangle, I had the chance to check out the British Airways Lounge Miami (MIA), prior to my Qatar Airways A350 business class flight to Doha (DOH).

I was looking forward to checking out this lounge for a variety of reasons — Miami is my home airport, the lounge only opened in late 2025, and it’s also British Airways’ first lounge with the all-new design motif. I have to give British Airways credit, as I was really impressed by this lounge. The decor was beautiful, the views were amazing, I loved the hidden workspaces, and it’s also nice to have a full service bar. The food didn’t really “wow,” but other than that, British Airways knocked it out of the park.

British Airways Lounge Miami location

The British Airways Lounge Miami is located in the satellite terminal of Concourse E. For context, at Miami Airport, Concourse D and Concourse E are fully connected airside, while they aren’t connected airside to the other terminals.

So if you’re coming from Concourse D, just follow the signage toward gates E20-E33. Meanwhile if you’re clearing security in Concourse E, you’ll immediately see the escalators leading to the train that takes you to gates E20-E33.

The train runs every few minutes, and it’s just a short ride to get there.

For those who can’t visualize the location, the below map will show you where the satellite terminal is located.

By the way, can I point out how Miami Airport is investing billions of dollars in its modernization, and the below is the “after” of what the terminal looks like. Not exactly impressive, eh?

I digress. The second you step off the train and get into the main area of the terminal, just turn around, and you’ll see the stairs and elevator to the lounge right there.

The lounge is located on level four, one level above the concourse. Even before you enter the lounge, you’ll notice nice design touches.

British Airways Lounge Miami hours

The British Airways Lounge Miami is currently open daily from 1PM until 11PM. You can expect hours to vary over time, but the lounge will always be open at least a few hours before departures on British Airways, Iberia, and Qatar Airways.

British Airways Lounge Miami entry requirements

In theory, British Airways lounges are supposed to follow standard oneworld lounge access rules, which is to say that they should be open to all long haul oneworld first and business class passengers, plus eligible oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members.

The catch is that British Airways is notorious for not really following standard lounge access rules at its outstation lounges, using the “capacity constraints” excuse. Instead, the practical enforcement of British Airways’ policy seems to be that the lounge is open to all eligible oneworld passengers, but only if traveling on select airlines, including British Airways, Iberia, and Qatar Airways.

So while you can absolutely try your luck if you’re traveling in a long haul premium cabin on another oneworld airline, or if you’re a oneworld Sapphire or Emerald member with a non-US airline on a domestic itinerary, don’t be surprised if you’re rejected.

One thing worth mentioning is that the lounge does have automated entry gates, where you scan your boarding pass, and then the gates open if you’re eligible for entry. So I do wonder if that might cause the airline to follow the official rules, or if the system is programmed to British Airways’ preferences.

British Airways Lounge Miami seating & layout

The British Airways Lounge Miami is around 13,000 square feet with a capacity for around 230 guests, so it’s quite large for an outstation lounge (though it needs to be, given that British Airways flies the A380 to Miami up to twice daily, so that’s a lot of premium guests to accommodate).

The lounge is broken up into five different zones, most with lots of natural light and amazing apron views. I appreciate that layout, since it’s not just one large, rectangular room, as you’ll all too often find. Quite to the contrary, you actually enter the lounge through the center, and then the lounge spaces are all around that.

Since this lounge takes up (what appears to be) the entire upper level of the concourse, you can look out in every direction, including toward the runways, taxiways, etc. This is probably the lounge in Miami with the best views.

When you enter the lounge, you’ll first find yourself in what’s probably the single largest space, which has banquettes, chairs, sofas, and coffee tables. It’s just an all-around very inviting and elegant space.

If you keep moving along the perimeter of the lounge, you’ll then find yourself in the bar area, which is honestly stunning, especially with the airport backdrop.

There’s also plenty of seating around the bar, including banquettes and chairs.

Then past the bar is the main dining area, which has a couple of dozen tables and booths.

The above three spaces cover the main part of the lounge. But when in the very center of the lounge, you’ll find a lowered area with partitions between all the seating, which is one of the more private parts of the lounge.

Just to give you a sense of how all the spaces connect, the below rather eye-catching hallway can get you to any part of the lounge, since it’s where they all connect.

Then there’s what’s probably my favorite part of the lounge, which is also the easiest to overlook completely. When you enter the lounge and turn right, you’ll find an area with five focus pods. This is so easy to miss, since there’s no signage, and you’d assume there’s nothing back there, and that it’s just an employee entrance, or something. But nope, there’s a space with five fully private pods with desks, chairs, and charging outlets.

What a lovely amenity to have, as a fully enclosed space from which to work while in a lounge is all too rare.

The last area to talk about is Concorde Dining, which is reserved for British Airways first class passengers. This is over by the bathrooms, and offers a la carte dining and elevated drinks, but I wasn’t eligible for that.

British Airways Lounge Miami food & drinks

The British Airways Lounge Miami has a self-serve food and non-alcoholic drink selection, and then a fully staffed bar with alcohol.

When it comes to food, that’s all available at one central buffet. The lounge was quiet during my visit, but I imagine right before an A380 departure, this buffet must be swarmed, as it’s not huge.

The food selection was nicely presented, but the selection wasn’t necessarily big. Cold options included a salad bar with a variety of customizations, a charcuterie board, a mezze selection, and several dessert options.

Hot options included individually plated pasta and bread pudding dishes, plus short rib, mahi mahi, potatoes, carrots, and rice.

There was also a soup of the day, plus a selection of bread.

In addition to that, there was a small candy selection over by the windows.

When it comes to drinks, there was an espresso machine, a customizable soda fountain, iced tea, and fruit infused water.

There were also a few snacks, like cookies, crackers, and pretzels.

All other drinks were available at the bar, and you can find the drink list below. I really do appreciate when lounges have staffed bars, since you can actually order a proper cocktail.

Beyond the above selection, the area with focus pods has another coffee machine, a tea selection, and some large and tasty-looking cookies.

British Airways Lounge Miami bathrooms & showers

The British Airways Lounge Miami bathrooms and showers are past the dining area.

The bathrooms are very nicely appointed, with the men’s room having two sinks, plus a few urinals and stalls, with all products being from Elemis.

The lounge also has two shower suites, though I didn’t have the chance to check them out.

Bottom line

I finally had the chance to visit the new British Airways Lounge Miami, and it’s phenomenal. This is the carrier’s first lounge globally with the new design motif, and I’m very impressed by the work British Airways has done. When you complement the nice furnishings with the huge amount of natural light and views, this is really a top notch lounge.

It’s also nice to have a full bar with an extensive drink selection. I’d say the food selection is good but not amazing. Lastly, I love the focus pods in this lounge, as it’s all too rare to find lounges with proper workstations. It’s just too bad that British Airways is rather quirky with its lounge access rules.
