Plaza Premium Lounge Heathrow Terminal 2 Location

Heathrow has several Plaza Premium Lounges, but given that I was flying out of Terminal 2, I used the one in the departures area there (they also have a landside arrivals lounge at Terminal 2).

After clearing security you’ll find yourself in the main departures area. Just go down a floor (to level four) and turn left. You’ll want to follow the signage towards lounge “A3,” which is the code for the Plaza Premium Lounge.

Then you’ll see a bunch of the transfer desks. Walk to the right of those.

The entrance to the Plaza Premium Lounge will be at the end of the hallway.

The lounge is open daily from 5AM until 10PM, which covers all departures, given the Heathrow curfew.

How To Access The Plaza Premium Lounge

Several airlines use the Plaza Premium Lounge as their contract lounge, though in addition to that you can access the lounge through Priority Pass — that’s how I was visiting. You can also access the lounge directly with the Amex Platinum Card.

The Plaza Premium Lounge Terminal 2 is really nice — just inside the entrance is an area that looks like a beautiful hotel lobby.

This is also where the bar is located.

Further into the lounge and to the right is a dining area, with a bunch of tables seating two people each.

Then behind a partition are some seats arranged in pairs, facing one another.

Along the center walkway of the lounge are some communal high-top tables.

There are even a couple of cozy areas in the lounge that feel like living rooms.

Then in the back left of the lounge are semi-private seats that are great for working. In general I love these kinds of seating arrangements.

They’re great since there’s room for your computer, and also because they have outlets.

The lounge had a selection of newspapers available.

The buffet was inside and to the right, and they had a full breakfast spread set up even at 5AM.

Breakfast options included cold cuts, cheese, salad, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, muffins, pastries, and cookies.

Hot options included scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, and potatoes.

To drink there was an espresso machine, a selection of tea, juices, water, and soda. Alcoholic drinks were available at the bar.

The lounge’s bathrooms were also quite nice. Apparently the lounge has showers, though I didn’t see them.

I spent about an hour in the lounge, and my only other comment is regarding a cappuccino. I’ve written about how much I love a lounge or airline with a good coffee setup, so I was excited when I saw that they had a proper espresso machine behind the bar (generally a human-made cappuccino is much better than a machine made one, and that largely comes down to the frothing of milk).

“Hi, could I get a cappuccino from that machine, please?”
“The machine is over by the buffet.”

This happens all the time in lounges, and I’m never sure how to address it:

Do I follow-up and state that I’d really prefer one from that machine?
Do I assume that the machine is actually broken, and there’s a reason I’m being told to go use the other machine?

This happens frequently, and usually I just walk away sad, so I think I need to figure out what the correct response is there.

Plaza Premium Lounge Heathrow Bottom Line

The Plaza Premium Lounge Heathrow Terminal 2 has nice decor with practical seating options and a pretty good food selection. The only real downside to the lounge is the lack of natural light, as the lounge has no windows.

Terminal 2 has some solid lounges, and this one is no exception.

I have read that alcoholic drinks have to be paid for, is this true?
I will be flying Malaysian airlines business class to KL & this is the lounge that I have been told that I will be using.
From what I can understand this also is a pay on entry lounge.
I have flown many airlines in the last 40 years but this is the first time with Malaysian Airlines, in...

How about this:
"Thanks for pointing me towards the other machine. But I really enjoy coffee that is well-made and tasty, and I appreciate the skill that goes into making one properly. Especially frothing the milk of a cappuccino; it can be tricky to do it well. So if there is someone here who has been trained to use the machine, I'd really like to try a coffee made that way please."

Visited this lounge in September and while crowded, I was still impressed. Check in via Priority Pass was straightforward but reception really struggled to see if the spa was free.

Once in the spa, the treatment was great.

Was able to find an armchair and enjoy some decent food. Line at the bar was only ever 1 other person. I flew on a Friday afternoon.

Apparently there are certain restrictions to using the shower. When I recently asked for one, they asked what I used to check in, and after stating Priority Pass, they took me to the room. But I've heard that other ways of accessing the lounge do not allow for a free shower.

I have also noticed the pictures loading very slowly. I thought it was my connection, so I guess I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one experiencing the loading delay.

Lucky - regarding your coffee dilema.
You can ask for them to make it for you but my guess is they only have someone with barista skills during very limited hours.
The person who sent you to the machine probably did you a favour. They had no idea how to make the damn thing.

Dark and dingy with mediocre food offerings. Doesn't even offer toast at breakfast. Not a patch on the United Club with its great views and cocktails.

Ben - the showers are in a separate corridor. At the reception desk if you let them know you want one they'll direct you - it's to the left of the desk before you enter, as opposed to the right where the main lounge entrance is.

Just visited their lounge in T3. Not as nice as this one and the same food. The scrambled eggs were easily the nastiest ones I've ever tasted. The lunch selection wasn't bad, the nacho bar was unusual. It still beats hanging in the terminal and any American Domestic Lounge

And if you block scripts you end up with huge blank spaces under text before the picture appears, seems to be some update on the site that requires scrips now days. Happened last month, or early this month I think

This is actually a terrible lounge at most times due to over-crowding. On occasion, there was no free seat. I've waited 10+ minutes at the bar, etc. I strongly recommend using the *A lounges if you have access (the nicer ones are in the satellite, but if you're flying short-haul, LH SEN it is; LH SEN is in the back section of the LH lounge).

Its actually exact the same food in all T2 lounges due to same catering provider, Sodexo.

That lounge has a lot of paid services including shower and spa (their massage services are pretty good imo)

Some of the bar items are also chargeable

Looks like breakfast is better than the all day food items
