    Lucky,

When buying an AA ticket is it better to put on my amex platinum or AAdvantage Platinum Select??? What gets me the best bang for my credit card buck?

Ben values AA miles at 1.3 cents each and Membership Rewards at 1.7 cents apiece so it might seem that the Amex card is a no-brainer.

If you’re trying to accumulate AA miles you’ll earn 2x AA points for using the AA card vs. 3x MR points on the Amex but MRs can’t be transferred to AA.

So it all depends on what your plans are for the points you earn.

Slight edit, you’d earn 5X points on the Amex Platinum when booking airfare. 🙂

You also get what I’d consider to be, better travel insurance protection with Amex than the American card.

Have both card linked with your AA, and purchase with Amex (x5). This way you can free checked bag and earlier boarding group, and also get those points!
