We arrived at Heathrow Terminal 3 on Garuda Indonesia at around 5:40PM, and had a separate ticket to Munich on Lufthansa at out of Terminal 2 at 8:15PM. So we took the bus to Terminal 2, had to clear security again, etc. In all, the transit took about 30 minutes.
Then we found ourselves in Terminal 2 (known as “The Queen’s Terminal), which is my favorite terminal at Heathrow. I was excited because the terminal has four Star Alliance lounges, and the Lufthansa lounge was the last one I hadn’t yet visited. I’ve already reviewed the Air Canada lounge, Singapore Airlines lounge, and United lounge. So I was excited to check out the Lufthansa lounge prior to our flight. We had our choice of lounges, but if you aren’t an elite member or traveling in a premium cabin, London does have a few options available to those with a credit card with lounge access.

Once inside the terminal we followed the signage towards “Lounges A1-A2,” which includes the Lufthansa and Plaza Premium lounge. Terminal 2 consists of two concourses, and the Lufthansa and Plaza Premium lounges are in the near concourse, while the other three lounges are in the far concourse. Getting between concourses can take 10-15 minutes, so when you’re flying Lufthansa it’s a bit of a detour to use one of the other lounges.

The Lufthansa Lounge was located one level up from the main concourse, and had the typical Lufthansa exterior (Lufthansa’s Senator and Business lounges are consistent to a fault, in my opinion).

At the entrance we were received by a rather matronly attendant who didn’t smile or say anything. We were in economy and I have Star Alliance Gold status, so we were entitled to use the Senator Lounge, which we were given a sheet of paper with a barcode for.

Lufthansa’s lounge access policies probably seem a bit backwards to me, as they have separate lounges for business class and elite members, and surprisingly the lounge for elite members is nicer.
When you enter the lounge you first arrive in the Business Lounge. Near the entrance are some departure monitors and a variety of newspapers.

The lounge itself was spacious and modern, while still being a cookie-cutter Lufthansa lounge.

Nearest to the entrance were some leather chairs for lounging.

Then further into the lounge was some cafe-style seating, including tables, booths, high-top seating, etc.

Then along the side of the lounge was a large business center, which consisted of communal tables and high-top seating. Neither of those options is an especially comfortable place from which to work, in my opinion.

As mentioned above, we had access to the Senator Lounge. The entrance to it was in the back of the Business Lounge, and you had to scan the piece of paper with the barcode they gave you at check-in to access it.

Style-wise the lounge was very similar, though it seemed to be a bit smaller and more crowded (I typically find Senator Lounges to be more crowded, given how many Star Alliance Gold members there are).

The business center in the Senator Lounge simply consisted of a row of seats along a counter, so it wasn’t an especially comfortable setup either.

The food and drink spread in the Senator Lounge was along the right side of the lounge. Lufthansa does differentiate the food and drinks in the Senator Lounge and Business Lounge, though the differences are quite subtle.

As you can see, the alcohol selection is in some cases better in the Senator Lounge (i.e., Bombay Sapphire rather than Beefeater), but other than that I can’t say I noticed much of a difference in terms of food quality.
There are restrooms in both lounges, though unfortunately the Lufthansa Lounge Heathrow doesn’t have shower rooms, which is disappointing. I guess for Lufthansa, Heathrow is a short-haul airport, so they assume most people are starting their travels there. Still, that’s quite disappointing for a global hub, given that many people are connecting from their partner airlines.

We stayed in the lounge until 7:30PM, and then headed to our departure gate, which was just a short walk away.

As far as Lufthansa Senator and Business lounges go, this is one of the nicer ones out there. However, with the exception of Lufthansa’s First Class Terminal/Lounges, I find all of their lounges to be so cookie cutter. While I appreciate consistency, their lounges take it a step too far, in my opinion.
Ultimately the differences between the Senator and Business Lounge were subtle, as I usually find to be the case.
This is a perfectly fine lounge, though given the choice, I’d visit any of the other three Star Alliance lounges in the terminal ahead of this one (though that’s not especially practical if your flight is departing from the “A” pier).

Has anyone tried the Arrivals Lounge [STAR ALLIANCE] Terminal 2 Heathrow . The facility is just after leaving the Terminal 2 baggage reclaim/customs area. Wondering what the showers and breakfast are like? Thanks for the info.
The Lufthansa lounge looks incredibly spacious, although it could have a bit more ambience and inviting decor.

Cookie cutter is right. The only difference I see between this lounge and the other Lufthansa lounges I have been in is that it appears that they don't offer pretzels here.

Even when I had to have breakfast/lunch in one it was perfectly fine.
A tip from me: Check out the Business/Senator lounge in the K- SatelliteTerminal in Munich. The Terminal is completely new and so are the lounges. Nicely layed out with a couple small (but nice) design changes other older LH lounges don't have. Also it is alot less crowded than the G-area.

I think AC is the top lounge in LHR, followed by UA.
Nice - much better than the AA lounge. I bet it tops the UA/*A lounge as well. Too bad it's a hike from the other wing.
You only have 3.5 hours connecting time between GA and LH flight in separate ticket. If inbound GA flight get delay, you will loss the connecting LH. I believe your ticket allow you to rebook without any fee if your GA flight get delay?
Having flown Swiss from Heathrow recently I had access to the Lufthansa lounge but found it all a bit sterile, as I couldn't face the round trip out to the other Alliance lounges I used the plaza lounge which is in priority pass and found that really comfortable with good food and drink (inc servers wandering the lounge) I would recommend that lounge.
I think the LH lounge is great and i agree that the food is also good - very relaxing and professional.
Did they proactively offer bread?
@Ben I understand this is a premium travel portal but would that really stop you to post a review of your economy travel from LHR? It would be interesting to know from you how is to de-adjust after a 14hr Skyyrax 5star Rating first class service

The UA Lounge is the best of the 4 in the Queen's terminal. Lots of windows and a separate circular room for the food. Plus it has the nicest showers and restrooms. These showers are the best I have every seen (better than CX lounge showers). SQ and AC are nice - but not as nice as the UA Club.

Problem with the LH lounges is that have no showers. Last year I arrived on a UA over Atlantic Flight and was connecting on a SK flight. SK also leaves out of the close in gates same as LH.
When you arrive at the outer concourse where most of the long haul international flights are, you then have to walk all the way back to the close in terminal to clear security (immigration not required when connecting). So if you are connecting on SK or LH you are not conveniently located next to the LH lounges and near the departure gates. But if you want to take a shower, you have to go all the way to the outer concourse to use a UA/SQ/AC shower.
As pointed out that is a 15 minute walk out and then another 15 minutes back. So you need a long connection time. And the escalators only go up at the outer terminal. So not designed for you to walk back. Your only option is the elevators - and unless you know that in advance you need to ask someone. One design flaw with the Queen's terminal and the LH lounge.
Looks like the Senator lounge has a much better Scotch selection.
I did like the United lounger at the Queens terminal :) I only had a short time there but it was very nice too.
I was just there last week! We had a 3+ hour delay out of LHR to MUC because of the fog. One thing to note is that the food is provided by DO&CO so it's actually pretty darn good. Although the interiors are a little sterile it's one of my favourite business class lounges out there!
Lucky, I am begging you to try Etihad and V Aus business class on your way home from your Jordon trip. You could route AUH-SYD/BNE-LAX on Etihad and VAus respectively. Thanks!
P.S This would deliver the Etihad Business class review everyone wants! Heck you could even do an Emirates Business class flight to Aus. Just be ready to not be able to shower at 38000 feet!
