Earn 500 Bonus Points On Your Next Hyatt Stay

Hyatt is offering 500 bonus Gold Passport points if you make your next booking through the Hyatt app. The promotion is valid for stays booked and consumed between September 1 and November 30, 2016. All Hyatt family hotels are eligible for the promotion, though MGM Mlife properties aren’t. Each Gold Passport member can qualify for this promotion once at most.

To qualify for this promotion you must book an “eligible rate,” which includes paid stays and Points + Cash stays, though doesn’t include free night stays.

There’s no registration required, and bonus points should automatically post within 2-3 weeks of when the stay is completed. This can of course be stacked with Hyatt’s current More Points More Play promotion, offering up to 75,000 bonus points after 25 nights.

I contacted Hyatt to confirm the promotion was open to everyone, and here’s what they said regarding the reason behind the promotion:

The reason for the promotion is that we recently launched a new mobile app (make sure to update your app if you haven’t already). In addition to a complete visual redesign and all the preexisting features, the new app puts guests in the driver’s seat from pre-arrival through departure:

  • Users can now see helpful information such as their room number and up-to-date charges for their stay at any time.
  • Guests can use the app to choose Facebook Messenger or Twitter (and text message, for participating properties) to get in touch with Hyatt in real time.
  • A new mobile guest requests feature allows travelers to request items through the mobile app such as towels, toothpaste, shampoo and many more!
  • Guests can choose to expedite their arrival and departure experiences through the mobile app with Online Check-in and Express Checkout.

I’ll certainly be making my next Hyatt booking through their app! This is very similar to the promotion Hyatt offered around the same time last year, where you could also earn 500 bonus points for booking through their app.

  1. Lucky,
there’s no limit on how many times you can get the 500 points bonus.
The only restriction is that each member can earn 500 points only once PER STAY, but there’s no limit on how many stays you can have during the promotion period.

  2. Nice to have the promo, but am I correct to assume I have to cancel and rebook stays I’ve already made for this promo period?

  3. I actually booked a reward night through the app over the weekend without knowing about the promotion. After checking out, I noticed 500 points in my IHG account. So, reward nights may apply for this.

  4. Follow-up to the earlier question posted: Should we cancel existing reservations done using a desktop and rebook using the app?

  5. I have the same question Glenn just posed. Should we cancel existing reservations done using a desktop and rebook using the app?

  6. Anyone know if Hyatt is enforcing the clause that the mobile app booking is done after Sept. 1? Will mobile app reservation for a stay after Sept. 1, but booked before Sept. 1, count?

For the people asking whether to rebook if original reservation was done on the website the answer is yes, if you want the 500 point bonus. Just make sure the price hasn’t gone up and the room is still available!

  7. Does this benefit also apply to stays made with points or points plus cash?

On the one hand, the answer would seem to be yes, as it does mention “log in to…. redeem free nights.”

But then in the fine print T&C, I see this:

“Eligible Rate is defined in the Hyatt Gold Passport terms and conditions.”

(which begs the question then of what’s an eligible rate for THIS promotion?)

  8. @ will — For the purposes of the promotion an “Eligible Night” would be Points + Cash or a paid rate, but not a free night redemption.
