Delta increasing SkyClub membership fees as of March 1, 2013

Delta has announced that they’ll be raising SkyClub membership fees as of March 1, 2013.

Here are the old rates:

And here are the new rates:

So as you can see the costs are going up by $50 for all elite members, while the cost for paying in miles, and for general members paying in cash, remains the same.

Now, I don’t actually think there’s a good reason to get a SkyClub membership in the first place since the American Express Platinum card is a better value for lounge access. But if for whatever reason you were thinking of buying a membership, now would be a good time to do so.

  1. I could see how this would make sense for someone living near one of Delta’s hubs but does not fly Delta as much. In that case the question would be why?

Otherwise, like you said, it is a no brainer if you had to choose between this and the Amex Platinum.

  2. Another slap in the face to Silver Medallions. You’re no better than General Members according to Delta.

  3. I don’t see them offering lifetime cards.

I feel lucky they issued lifetime skyclub cards for lifetime world club cards.

are the world club lifetime cards still good some places?

  4. @JJ, if SMs pay with miles (don’t know why one would), they are treated a wee bit better.

    Just sayin’
