Qantas First Lounge LAX Reopening August 11, 2022

One of the best airport lounges in the United States will be reopening this week — yay!

Qantas First Lounge LAX finally reopening

The Qantas First Lounge LAX will be reopening as of Thursday, August 11, 2022. The lounge has been closed for well over two years since the start of the pandemic. In terms of hours, the lounge is open from 6:30 AM until 12 AM

This lounge is located in Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT), which is only a short airside walk from Terminal 4, where Oneworld partner American Airlines is based.

The Qantas First Lounge LAX is open to all Oneworld long haul first class passengers, as well as Oneworld Emerald members traveling in any cabin:

  • Those earning Oneworld Emerald status through Alaska Mileage Plan or American AAdvantage can only use the lounge when traveling outside of North America
  • Those earning Oneworld Emerald status through other Oneworld airlines can use the lounge before any Oneworld flight, even if it’s domestic

The lounge reopening comes after Australia has fully reopened its borders to visitors, lifting all coronavirus related travel restrictions. Qantas has nicely ramped up its schedule to Los Angeles, including the return of the Airbus A380.

The Oneworld Business Lounge at Tom Bradley International Terminal reopened in late 2021, so it’s nice to see the Qantas First Lounge finally reopen as well.

What makes the Qantas First Lounge LAX special

While the Qantas First Lounge LAX has nice decor, what sets the lounge apart is the food & beverage selection. The lounge truly offers restaurant-quality dining, inspired by Neil Perry’s Rockpool Restaurant. The lounge has a diverse menu, including signature favorites (like salt & pepper squid), as well as some more local options.

The lounge also has a great drink selection, from solid wines to cocktails to barista-made coffee drinks. Definitely come hungry when visiting the lounge…

Bottom line

The Qantas First Lounge LAX is reopening as of August 11, 2022, which is an exciting development. This is one of the best lounges in the United States, and will no doubt be popular with Oneworld Emerald members departing from the airport.

Anyone have plans to visit the Qantas First Lounge LAX soon?

I have the same question as many: If I’m Emerald through AA and flying AA flagship LAX to LHR, do I get access? I’m going to swing by and at least ask! My flight departs from terminal 4 which I figure they are trying to funnel us to the Flagship lounge instead.

I'm a BA Gold and have an LAX-SFO leg in AA First as part of a wider trip. There's an overnight layover at SFO before onward to London, all same ticket, but assuming no access to this lounge on the domestic leg...?

"Those earning oneworld Emerald status through other oneworld airlines can use the lounge before any oneworld flight, even if it’s domestic" Data point: I've had multiple lounge agents at the Qantas Buisness lounge refuse access for domestic flights based on having OneWorld Status in a foreign program. Your mileage may vary, particularly if you are trying to double dip and credit to American/Alaska but use the lounge on basis if a foreign program.
