This past December, World of Hyatt launched an awesome new partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

This was a well thought out new partnership, given that Hyatt’s biggest weakness compared to their competitors is that they have a much smaller global footprint than Hilton, IHG, and Marriott, so anything they can do to give World of Hyatt members access to more properties is a good thing.

The catch is that while there are 500+ SLH properties around the world, initially just over 50 hotels partnered with Hyatt. The intent was that more properties would be added over time, though it’s understandable that it’s a gradual process, since hotels need to be fully onboard to participate (presumably they need to be briefed on how it works, adjust their technology so they can properly report stays to Hyatt, etc.).

At the end of January another 56 SLH properties were added to World of Hyatt, and today even more properties are being added, bringing the total to 167.

While 110 hotels were initially part of the partnership, as of today World of Hyatt has added a further 57 SLH hotels to their portfolio, and you can expect more to be added in the future.

Earning & redeeming World of Hyatt points at SLH properties

World of Hyatt members earn points at SLH properties at the same rate they would at Hyatt properties, though only when they book through Hyatt channels:

  • Members earn five base points per USD spent on eligible room revenue with SLH
  • World of Hyatt members receive their standard elite tier bonuses (10% for Discoverist, 20% for Explorist, and 30% for Globalist)
  • World of Hyatt members will receive elite nights for SLH stay

Then when it comes to redeeming points, all SLH properties have year-round award pricing in one of eight categories:

  • Category 1: 5,000 points
  • Category 2: 8,000 points
  • Category 3: 12,000 points
  • Category 4: 15,000 points
  • Category 5: 20,000 points
  • Category 6: 25,000 points
  • Category 7: 30,000 points
  • Category 8: 40,000 points

Bottom line

I’m thrilled to see the number of SLH properties partnering with Hyatt expanding. They’re more than tripled their number of properties since the partnership was recently introduced, and we should see even more in the future. I’m very pleased by the pace at which these are being added.

Are there any new SLH additions that particularly interest you?

  1. Really good news! I stayed at the Hotel Romeo in Naples a few years ago and it was superb. I highly recommend paying extra for a bay view room.

  2. I think they have issues they need to sort with SLH properties. I’ve been looking at some such as Sailrock in Turks and Caicos, there is absolutely no availability ever. I’ve checked as far as I can on the calendar and there are always rooms you can pay for but no point availability.

  3. @chris….. I think sailrock is going to be a unicorn on points availability, that is a REALLY small hotel….

  4. Tried three properties in the mobile app and, while their names come up when inputting location, no results/rates so far.

  5. They are slowly adding to the Europe footprint which is nice (albeit mostly high end resorts). Will be interested to see if thats there strategy in Europe or if there is another small chain they can work out deals with for mid to high end hotels in European cities.

Either way, keep em coming Hyatt!

  6. @kevin .. makes sense, I just figured there would be something somewhere on their calendar.. sometimes with paid it wouldn’t say anything and sometimes it would say 4 rooms available or 3 rooms available but point stays never existed anywhere. For the price of sailrock I see other places in Turks and Caicos I’d rather stay at but for a point redemption I’d love to give it a try.

  7. I tried booking Bequia since I’ll be there in March. It showed availability as I first started so I transferred the points, went to book and it disappeared. I then looked again and it shows the basic room not available for points or to pay(it was initially there). So I checked their site and I can book there no problem, called to check availability and it was bookable on that same date, only place I see it not possible is via the Hyatt website.

  8. I just wish we didn’t have to pay highly marked up prices sometimes as much as 2x vs 3rd party to get stay credits any info and going thru a travel agent/ direct and still getting Hyatt stay credit and anyone able to stack the citi 4th night free.

  9. Finally a point hotel in Antigua!!!! Marriott needs to put something there..

Wouldn’t pay with points since nightly rate is only $100~$200
But free breakfast would be great.

  10. I just got back from a stay at “The View” in Lugano, Switzerland, which was 40k Hyatt points per night. Very, very nice hotel, and the view from the rooms and the city are wonderful. However, the constant staff attention (16 rooms – and they memorize you by sight and greet you by name every time you walk in the door) is a little off-putting. Still a very nice trip though.

  11. I’m about to embark on a 40 night retirement trip and I have reservations in Park Hyatt Suites for 12 of the nights and then 8 nights in SLH properties all on points! And I may covert another 4 to SLH with one of the new properties you listed today. I am going to do my best to stay Globalist until I die! Other programs with all their drama have become a joke compared with what the Hyatt program offers in Europe! Great post! Keep em coming!

  12. They need to offer best rates and the same promos the hotels offer direct. Otherwise this is only useful for high-end redemptions.

  13. Not happy with this move. As a non-aligned traveler who seeks out exclusive establishments, this banner of Hyatt all over this list of SLH is disappointing. Although I like Hyatt overall, we will be adding these to the list to avoid when looking for truly boutique hotels. Luckily there are plenty of other gems around the world to stay in.

  14. Hi thanks for the update. However, when I checked on Academy Hotel, London through Hyatt, no breakfast is being offered in this hotel as asserted in the story. Please check that info.

  15. What I miss is different rate categories. You can only book standard rate when booking thru Hyatt, when booking the same thru SLH website you get member discounted rates or special offers, like 4th night free …Also a pity that you won’t earn Hyatt points in their restaurants/bars.
