While registration opened a couple of weeks back, this is a reminder that World of Hyatt’s excellent new promotion is valid for stays as of today. This is an offer to get excited about, in my opinion, as it’s quite generous. Keep in mind that this complements World of Hyatt reducing elite requirements by half for 2021, meaning you can earn Globalist status with just 30 elite qualifying nights.

World of Hyatt Bonus Journeys promotion

The new World of Hyatt Bonus Journeys promotion is valid for stays between July 20 and September 15, 2021. With this promotion, World of Hyatt members can earn triple points on all stays of two or more nights.

There are some more things to be aware of with the Hyatt Bonus Journeys promotion:

  • Registration is required
  • The promotion is valid for stays at all Hyatt properties, participating MGM Resorts, Small Luxury Hotels of the World locations, and Lindblad Expeditions
  • Any stay booked directly with Hyatt qualifies towards the promotion
  • Previously booked stays qualify, so it’s fine if you book before the promotion period started, as long as you register prior to check-out of your first stay
  • You can earn a maximum of 120,000 World of Hyatt bonus points with the promotion, which equates to $12,000 of eligible spending
World of Hyatt members are able to earn triple points

Crunching the numbers on Hyatt’s promotion

World of Hyatt’s new promotion is in line with the best promotions we’ve seen from the program. For context, I value World of Hyatt points at ~1.5 cents each. How does the math work out on this promotion?

  • World of Hyatt members earn 5x points per dollar spent at Hyatts and other eligible properties
  • Elite members receive further bonuses — Discoverists earn an extra 0.5x points per dollar spent, Explorists earn an extra 1.0x points per dollar spent, and Globalists earn an extra 1.5x points per dollar spent
  • If you pay with the World of Hyatt Credit Card (review) you earn an extra 4x points per dollar spent
  • With this promotion, World of Hyatt members earn up to 10x bonus points per dollar spent

In other words, a World of Hyatt Globalist member paying with the World of Hyatt Card for a stay of two or more nights would earn a total of 20.5x World of Hyatt points, and based on my valuation that’s like a return of ~31% on Hyatt spending. That’s excellent.

World of Hyatt members will be able to earn up to 20.5x points

Other World of Hyatt offers to take advantage of

In addition to the new Hyatt Bonus Journeys promotion, keep in mind the other ongoing offers from World of Hyatt:

There are rewards for staying at new brands, like Alila

Other ways to earn World of Hyatt points

If you’re looking to earn more World of Hyatt points, the good news is that Hyatt points are pretty easy to come by.

In addition to being able to earn World of Hyatt points with the World of Hyatt Credit Card (review), you can also transfer over points from Ultimate Rewards.

See this post for everything you need to know about earning Hyatt points with credit cards.

On top of that, World of Hyatt frequently sells points at a discount.

There are lots of great ways to earn World of Hyatt points

Bottom line

World of Hyatt has just launched its newest global Bonus Journeys promotion. World of Hyatt members are able to earn triple points on stays of two or more nights this summer, which has the potential to be an excellent deal.

World of Hyatt Globalist members paying with the World of Hyatt Card are able to earn up to 20.5x World of Hyatt points per dollar spent, which I value at a 31% return. I’m thrilled to see a truly lucrative summer promotion from World of Hyatt, because I wasn’t necessarily convinced that would happen due to the amount of leisure travel demand we’re seeing.

What do you make of the new World of Hyatt Bonus Journeys promotion?

@Lucky - the registration link you posted is old. The newer one for this promotion is found at https://world.hyatt.com/content/gp/en/offers/bonus-journeys-coming-soon.html?WOHNUMBER=%3cmemberID%3e

@Tom - there is definitely a benefit for award stays. If you spend ANY money at the hotel (meals, etc.) any of the spend will qualify for the bonus points. I'm staying at Grand Hyatt Baha Mar on points during the time frame and will definitely be maximizing this promotion for all food spend.

@Ryan - given food costs at their Baha Mar property you will rack up a tonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn of points:)

    2. DCAFrank

Got married at Baha Mar. Didn't earn normal WOH points on the f&b spend. Did earn like 20K points for hitting a minimum catering #, but of course paid for the entire wedding on my WOH card.

    3. AMPfromBNA

@Ryan, careful on your spend at Baha Mar. They do not consistently give points credit at F&B outlets on property, stating that they are not a part of the Hyatt and that room charges are only available as a convenience.

Great promo - I actually looked at switching over some of my upcoming travel. Challenge is that Hyatt is absent or barely present in half of my destinations this summer. Marriott is in all of them, Hilton in all but one. I may take advantage of this once, but it could be more if there were more Hyatt hotels. Easier way to earn Hyatt points is to spend on Chase Freedom Unlimited / Freedom Flex...

  3. daftryan

@Tom - Bring it on! I've got money.

Hope this includes spending on food/wedding? Staying at Ambassador Chicago for our wedding night, for the suite we are using points for 2 nights that we are staying there, but if it includes the wedding spent, that will be awesome! Definitely will be spending at least $12,000 on the food & wedding venue so i can get the maximum of 120k..

    1. Merry Chris Moss

Probably not. The spend isn't charged to the room but charged to a master bill which you pay, presumably with your card. I believe the T&Cs say no master bills. You should be receiving bonus points but through your contract. I'd contact your salesperson but can't adjust contract at this point.

    2. Martin C

Shoot, i used all my Hyatt pts for pre-honeymoon trip in Santorini, so thought i can take advantage of this opportunity to rack up some major points back. I re-read my contract which is confusing a little, "Master Account is only applicable if credit approval is granted" - which i did not apply. But i guess events like this still go to a master bill instead of bill to the room? Oh well, i will ask to make sure.

@Lucky - can you clarify this bullet?

-You’ll be able to earn a maximum of 120,000 World of Hyatt bonus points with the promotion, which equates to $12,000 of eligible spending

What do you mean $12K eligible spending? If I do the math, a non-elite member will earn 15x and max spend would be $8K.

    1. Michael

The limit is on bonus points, so the 5 base points per dollar don't count. You'll earn 10 bonus points per dollar, so $12,000 gets you 120,000 bonus points, regardless of status tier.

  6. Pam

“Choose your adventure Choose your offer” also came out on Monday with a free night with 2, 3, or 4 pd or a % off

  7. MBB

If you check in before July 20 but check out after July 20 will that earn the promotion bonus points? Or does check in have to be on/after July 20?

    1. Luis

I believe as long as you check out after 7/20, it'll count.

  8. Luis

My last 2 Hyatt stays, I was short changed on points earned. Had to contact Hyatt via email to have it corrected. Not sure if they're doing this on purpose hoping that people don't notice or they are this incompetent. Either way, make sure you check your folio carefully after each of your Hyatt stays to make sure you're getting all your points.

  9. Jim

Not sure "Amazing" is the word Id use since I dont pay cash for stays. So, pretty Meh

  10. Tom

I've stayed like 14 nights YTD at hyatts this year and my base points YTD is 105. The previous promo I got like 12.5k points and 1 cat 1-4 cert. This promo I would end up with like 200 extra points.

If you don't pay cash to stay at hyatt and you don't spend a lot at the hotels (because the stuff is expensive as hell), this promo is terrible

  11. Trey

I believe there's a (targeted) 8x promo on the Hyatt Card (for stays) until Aug. 15. So that should get you up to 24.5x for a Globalist - can you confirm?

  12. Joe

You noted "a World of Hyatt Globalist member paying with the World of Hyatt Card for a stay of two or more nights would earn a total of 20.5x World of Hyatt points" per dollar spent. How did you figure the 20.5x? Thank you.
