Now that’s a nicely packaged hotel welcome amenity!

Reader Aaron forwards this funny picture of a hotel welcome amenity from

At first I laughed and assumed it was a joke, and then I realized that actually looks more appealing than some of the elite welcome amenities I’ve received at hotels, like the infamous “green” apples at the Hyatt Regency Mainz:

So am I the only one that would be borderline delighted with the above welcome amenity? 😉

  1. I for one hate it when hotels give out whole fruit as a welcome amenity– I find it takes too much effort to eat, vs., say a few chocolates. It seems like it’s the only amenity many Asian properties give out… and b/c it’s often delivered to the room (often when I am not there), I am unable to refuse it…. which is a shame b/c I know it will go to waste.

  2. I would go with the apples. A nice healthy snack….and if I was going for a sweet treat the cheap 5 cent chocolates certainly would not make me feel acknowledged appropriately!

  3. Judging by the notepad in the picture of the candy box, it appears to be a full-service Marriott.

I wonder who the offender is…

  4. Okay, that photo of the bento box and only having two Krackels in it was amazing.

This is why I love The Eventi, a Kimpton property, in NYC. My welcome gift is usually cupcakes, champagne, and bottled water. Love, love, love it!

  5. The granny smith apples they had in the common areas at W Seattle are phenomenal. When I stayed my second night at the Hilton I was craving them so bad that I rode the bus for an hour to buy some at the Walmart in Bellevue. And they were gone within moments.
