The Ink Business Preferred Card is the single most well-rounded business credit card out there, in my opinion. The card offers the biggest sign-up bonus of any credit card, it offers incredible 3x points categories for common spending categories for businesses, and it offers amazing protection, ranging from car rental damage to cell phone protection. While I’d say this card isn’t worth it for someone strictly looking for cash back, otherwise you simply can’t go wrong with this card, in my opinion.

I love my Amex Platinum Card and find it well worth the annual fee. I think it can definitely be worth getting, though I also do think most people are using this card wrong. This isn’t a card you should be using for all of your credit card spending, but rather it’s a card you should get for the perks that it offers, as well as the 5x points on airfare. To decide if you should get the card, take the $550 annual fee, subtract how much value you’d get out of the credits, and then consider how much more you value the other perks of the card, including the great lounge access benefit. For a frequent traveler or anyone who buys international premium cabin tickets with any frequency, I think the card is well worth it. And even for those who don’t, I’d argue the card could be worth it right now. With the incredible bonus that includes 10x points in popular categories, as well as the temporary credits being offered on the card, this really is an unbeatable time to pick up the card.

In general, I would say that the Amex Business Platinum Card is a business card that you get in the long run for the benefits that it offers, rather than for the return on spending that it directly offers. It could make sense to spend money on the card if your business consistently makes $5,000+ purchases, other than that, there are better cards for everyday spending. The card offers big benefits but also has a steep $595 annual fee. When it comes to accounting for the value of the card, I recommend considering the following:
  • How much do you value the $200 airline fee credit and $200 Dell credit?
  • How much do you value the Marriott and Hilton Gold status?
  • How much value will you get from Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts and the International Airline Program?
  • How much do you value the incredible lounge access perks offered by the card?

The Freedom Unlimited is the credit card that I’ve spent the most money on over the past few years. It’s a vital card as part of an overall strategy for earning Chase Ultimate Rewards points, especially in conjunction with the Sapphire Preferred or Sapphire Reserve. Let me make my advice as concise as possible here: if you have the Sapphire Preferred or Sapphire Reserve, then you absolutely should have the Freedom Unlimited so you’re maximizing your return on everyday, non-bonused spending. The Ink Business Cash is one of the most rewarding business credit cards out there. The key is that I wouldn’t recommend using this as your primary business credit card for everyday spending. Rather use this as a complement to your overall card portfolio. The 5x points categories are really spectacular, so use those as much as possible. In conjunction with Ultimate Rewards, I value the 5x points at a return of 8.5%.

The Citi Double Cash has been my go-to card for everyday spending for about a year now, and I absolutely love it. Personally, I use the card for the ability to earn ThankYou points. The flexibility this card offers in this environment is unrivaled. The no annual fee card can earn you the equivalent of two cents or two transferrable points for every dollar you spend (after paying the bill). Being able to efficiently earn either cash back or travel rewards is the kind of flexibility that consumers should be looking for nowadays, and there’s no other card as well rounded as this. Furthermore, when you combine the Citi Double Cash with the Citi Premier Card, you’re looking at one of the best card combos out there with one low annual fee.
