The Venetian Las Vegas Joins World Of Hyatt: Points & Elite Perks

Hyatt recently announced a significant expansion to its footprint on the Las Vegas Strip, thanks to a new partnership. There’s now a major update, as the integration has been completed, so we know what to expect in terms of World of Hyatt perks.

The Venetian & The Palazzo partner with Hyatt

Hyatt and The Venetian Resort Las Vegas have entered a long term licensing agreement. As of January 9, 2025 (today), the the iconic luxury property is bookable through Hyatt channels, including Hyatt’s website and app. The Venetian Resort Las Vegas is home to both The Venetian and The Palazzo, and is the largest all-suite resort on the Las Vegas Strip.

With World of Hyatt perks being live, what should members expect? First of all, it’s worth noting that perks only apply when booking through Hyatt channels, which is a major limitation, since you’ll often find cheaper rates directly, or through other programs. So for World of Hyatt members booking through Hyatt channels:

  • You can earn the typical 5x World of Hyatt points per dollar spent, on both room rates and incidentals, including restaurants and shops, when charged to the room; stays are also eligible for elite nights
  • World of Hyatt members can receive their typical elite bonuses, points count toward lifetime World of Hyatt Globalist status, stays count toward Hyatt’s Brand Explorer promotion, and members can earn 4x points on Hyatt’s co-branded credit cards
  • All World of Hyatt elite members receive the same elite perks, including suite upgrades subject to availability, late check-out subject to availability, priority check-in, and discounts on select shopping and gondola rides; resort fees and parking fees are not waived
  • To be perfectly clear, typical World of Hyatt Globalist perks don’t apply, so there’s no complimentary breakfast, and you can’t use Suite Upgrade Awards, etc.
  • For those redeeming World of Hyatt points, unfortunately the hotels don’t follow Hyatt’s standard award charts, but rather pricing is revenue based

You can access Hyatt’s webpage for The Venetian here, and access Hyatt’s webpage for The Palazzo here. The execution here certainly leaves a bit to be desired. Redemption rates at these properties are awful, and I’m finding that World of Hyatt points consistently get you less than a cent of value per point toward a stay. Furthermore, elite perks are pretty basic, and I don’t love how you have to book through Hyatt to take advantage of this.

However, I also can’t say I’m surprised by the execution, given the complexity of these partnerships, and I’d still consider this to be a win for Hyatt.

Here’s how Mark Vondrasek, Hyatt’s Chief Commercial Officer, describes this development:

“Las Vegas is a perennial favorite for World of Hyatt members and our group business customers are requesting rooms at a higher volume than pre-pandemic due to the world-class entertainment and unique experiences offered by this dynamic destination. The licensing agreement with The Venetian Resort Las Vegas adds 7,000 rooms and 2.25 million square feet of meeting space, inviting Hyatt’s loyalty members and valued customers to have even more options to earn and redeem loyalty points when visiting Las Vegas.”

Meanwhile here’s how Patrick Nichols, The Venetian Resort Las Vegas’ CEO, describes this:

“Our legendary resort continues to lead the way on the Strip, setting the benchmark for innovation, luxury, and unforgettable guest experiences. From unveiling reimagined suites and collaborating with world-renowned chefs to delivering unparalleled entertainment, we have consistently stayed at the forefront of this ever-evolving destination. As we embrace a new era for The Venetian Resort, this relationship enables us to expand our reach and connect with new audiences.”

The Venetian Las Vegas has joined World of Hyatt

This is a big (and needed) win for Hyatt

It’s fascinating to see how the Las Vegas hotel scene is evolving, when it comes to partnerships between the major global hotel groups and the major Las Vegas hotel operators.

In the past, Hyatt had an awesome partnership with MGM. However, that was terminated in 2023, as MGM instead pursued a partnership with Marriott. That was obviously a huge loss for Hyatt, since the company went from having a substantial presence on the Strip, to having no presence whatsoever.

We have seen the Rio Las Vegas fully integrated into World of Hyatt. That adds a lot of room capacity, but it’s not exactly the most desirable property, and also isn’t on the Strip.

Up until recently, The Venetian Las Vegas partnered with InterContinental Hotels Group, but that partnership suddenly ended. So clearly The Venetian decided to dump InterContinental in favor of Hyatt. I’m not sure if the Hyatt just gave The Venetian better terms, if the company thinks it’ll attract more business this way, or what.

So while Marriott still has the strongest position in Las Vegas, this is a considerable victory for Hyatt, as the brand once again has a partner property on the Strip.

The Rio Las Vegas is also a Hyatt property

Bottom line

The Venetian Las Vegas has entered into a long term licensing agreement with Hyatt, whereby both The Venetian and The Palazzo have joined the World of Hyatt program. The execution certainly could be a better, as the elite perks are limited, and there’s not much value to redeeming points. But still, it’s better than nothing.

This is positive for World of Hyatt members, given that the only other major resort in Las Vegas belonging to Hyatt is the Rio.

What do you make of The Venetian Las Vegas partnering with Hyatt?

For business travelers the channel limitation is a big one. MGM/Marriott only in Vegas is the rule it seems :(

I get 76,750 points or $602 from the Hyatt app. I was expecting closer to 100,000 points per night when it was first announced but this is bad enough.
