Singapore KrisFlyer recently introduced “Spontaneous Escapes” awards, which are similar to the Air France-KLM’s monthly Promo Awards. In the case of these KrisFlyer awards, they’re available for travel the following month, so they really are pretty last minute. KrisFlyer has just published their latest set of awards, and they have the potential to be interesting.

Through this promotion you can receive 30% off select award redemptions on Singapore Airlines and SilkAir. The promotion is valid for bookings made through December 31, 2017, and for flights taken between January 1 and January 31, 2018 (though some destinations have blackout dates). The discounted redemption rates should automatically be reflected when doing award searches online.

There are a good number of routes that are eligible, including flights on Singapore Airlines and SilkAir, in both economy and business class.

Eligible Singapore Airlines destinations include the following (however, only specific flights are eligible, so you’ll want to check out the full list), and then there are many more SilkAir destinations:

  • Economy class: Beijing, Cape Town, Dusseldorf, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, Nagoya, Paris, Shanghai, Taipei
  • Business class: Ahmedabad, Amsterdam, Bengaluru, Copenhagen, Dusseldorf, Kolkata, Mumbai, Paris

It’s cool to see the number of longhaul markets on sale, including Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Dusseldorf, and Paris.

59,500 KrisFlyer miles with no fuel surcharges for business class between Singapore and Paris? Deal!

Keep in mind that while KrisFlyer devalued their award chart in March, they also eliminated carrier imposed surcharges on award tickets, meaning that the above mileage costs will be close to your “all-in cost.” You’ll just have to pay the taxes and fees.

While it’s probably not worth going out of your way to take advantage of this promotion, if you’re planning travel for December between Singapore and one of the eligible destinations, this promotion is most definitely worth being aware of.

If you don’t have KrisFlyer miles, keep in mind that the program is transfer partners with all four major transferable points currencies, including Amex Membership RewardsChase Ultimate RewardsCiti ThankYou, and Starwood Preferred Guest.
