Which Mileage program

Which Mileage program

  1. Anonymous Guest

Hi Lucky. I have recently moved to San Francisco and am trying to decide which mileage program to prioritize. I currently have points on United, Alaska and Southwest. I have +40k points in my Bank of America credit card to transfer and I am thinking more in terms of convenience, service and value for money. I know SFO is United’s hub but I am reluctant to make that airline from hell my go-to airline…Do you think they are indeed my best option holistically? For what is worth I am planning to fly in the near future to Canada, Mexico, Alaska, Brazil and Asia. Thank you. I appreciate your guidance.

UA has the strongest network out of SFO, but if you don’t mind stopovers AS is also an adequate program. They partner with AA and LATAM, so you should be able to credit those flights to AS and redeem miles on them (more challenging). AS also has multiple partnerships with Asian airlines including Singapore Airlines, JAL and Cathay Pacific to name a few. Milage Plan also has many additional unique partners like Hainan and Fiji Airways, which is a big plus should you ever consider travelling on them 😉
