Biz tix – no checked baggage?

Biz tix – no checked baggage?

  1. gotcha3 New Member

Last week I booked 2 one way tix from ORD-FRA through ZRH on Swiss using United’s Mileage Plus miles. All looks fine….except when I actually look at the electronic tix themselves, both indicate no checked bags are allowed (not only are the little baggage icons red x’d out, but lower down on the ticket it actually says, “no free checked bags”). UA issued the tix, but blames Swiss. Swiss says to call UA. Swiss assured me that we will be allowed 2 free checked bags at 32kg/70lbs each during check in. Should I be concerned? Is this a new UAL policy? Both tix are “I” fare class. Thank you in advance, gotcha 3.

If Swiss assures you that you will be allowed, I would get the rep’s name and also ask them to note the conversation just in case it becomes an issue.

If it was an economy ticket, I would be worried. But for business class, I wouldn’t worry. Just ask the reservations agent from Swiss to add a remark into the booking to confirm that you will receive 2pc @ 32kg. If the check-in agent wants to charge, just ask them to check the reservation. They should not override the remarks made by the reservation agent.
