Alaska Air or American Airlines Buy Miles Promotion?

Alaska Air or American Airlines Buy Miles Promotion?

  1. Anonymous Guest

Currently Alaska & American have mileage buy promotions. For 60,000 miles they are pretty similar prices, AA is a little better. So I am wondering which is the better buy from a redemption perspective – is one easier to redeem than the other or require less points for rewards? In the coming year I will fly mostly from Sydney Australia but normally it would be New York

Many thanks for input & ideas

Hi Jane! Where would you be flying to? Alaska has a weird award chart, so there are limited zones you can fly between. They have the better award chart in general, so it depends a bit on where you’re looking at going.

Thanks Tiffany. Since I posted I have had such poor experience with Alaska customer service that I have decided to run with American. I figured if they were so difficult at this point, it would be even more so when I was in the redemption phase. And AA points will probably give me more flexibility despite the difficulty of load and therefore redemption from Australia. Thanks again
