Taking a new job with a decent amount of travel (5-6 trips, monthly). Primarily domestic, but some international. Based in Las Vegas.

I will be purchasing airfare myself, therefore can benefit from points. I currently have a AMEX PR Gold.

Any advice on best credit cards and/or methods to maximize both my credit card points and airline loyalty benefits?

I’d probably pickup the enhanced Amex Platinum card with 5x points on airfare. That’ll pair nicely with your PRG. The Business version of the Platinum also gives you back 50% of points redeemed for flights if you book with amex travel and their pay with points option.

What status you want really depends on where you are going however, if you have and amex card and aren’t interested in booking international F awards, go for Delta status. In terms of Hotel status, go for SPG because it also partners with amex. If you need to connect, it will probably be via LAX or PHX if on AA, SFO or LAX if on UA, and SEA if you choose DL or AS (lots of and unique partners)
