Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has been undergoing quite the transformation in recent times, including trying to become more premium. As part of that, the airline has just shared more details on a new lounge that it’s opening at its hub airport, which should offer a better ground experience for the airline than ever before.
Details of the new SAS Lounge Copenhagen Airport
SAS will be opening a new primary lounge at Copenhagen Airport in June 2027, which will be larger, more stylish, and with more amenities, than the old facility.
The new lounge will be located on the fourth floor of Terminal 3, and it will cover 3,700 square meters (40,000 square feet), making it around 40% larger than the existing lounge. It’ll have 1,095 seats, and will be able to accommodate up to 4,000 visitors per day. Unlike the old lounge, this will just be on one level.
The facility will feature panoramic runway views and dedicated spaces for working, relaxing, sleeping, eating, and socializing, including 24 private work pods, expanded shower and restroom capacity, and private hotel rooms (it’s not yet clear how those will be made available). There will even be a dedicated area specifically for SAS’ most loyal top tier customers, offering the an elevated lounge experience.
When it comes to food & beverages, in addition to the standard selection, the lounge will have a dedicated bar with barista service, and a bakery with fresh pastries, treats, and snacks. You can expect that this lounge will follow standard SkyTeam lounge access rules, so it’ll be open to SkyTeam Elite Plus members as well as SkyTeam business class passengers.

Designed to handle high demand without feeling crowded – while offering dedicated spaces for our most frequent travelers – and connected with our recent re-introduction of European business class and partner lounge upgrades across Europe, it represents a very concrete step in our effort to improve every step of the journey for our frequent flyers.”
It’s great to see the positive changes at SAS
SAS has undergone quite the transformation in recent times, coinciding with the airline going through Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and getting a new ownership structure. Air France-KLM now have a stake in the airline (which is expected to grow), and we’ve also seen SAS move from Star Alliance to SkyTeam.
Ultimately nothing has been that revolutionary, but the airline has been making consistent, positive changes. The carrier has leaned into Copenhagen as a global hub, has brought back intra-Europe business class, and more. SAS has also announced quite the fleet modernization plans, including ordering Airbus A330-900neos, Embraer E195-E2s, etc.
