EVA Air publishes Hello Kitty schedule for new Los Angeles service

EVA Air publishes Hello Kitty schedule for new Los Angeles service

21

Yesterday I shared what was hands down the industry news of the week — EVA Air will launch “Hello Kitty” service to the US as of September 18. Presently they only operate select A330 services within Asia with Hello Kitty themed planes, though this new services marks the first Hello Kitty themed 777-300ER.

The big question I had was whether the service was only going to be a few days a week, or if they were planning on configuring multiple 777-300ERs with the Hello Kitty theme, given that a single 777-300ER can’t fly roundtrip between Los Angeles and Taipei in a day.

Via airlineroute.net, it appears we have our answer, as the service will only operate three times a week.

The inaugural flight will be as follows:

09/18 BR12 Taipei to Los Angeles departing 4:40PM arriving 2:05PM
09/19 BR01 Los Angeles to Taipei departing 1:35AM arriving 5:50AM (+1 day)

Then starting September 20 it will operate the following frequencies:

BR16 Taipei to Los Angeles departing 11:55PM arriving 9:20PM (Wed, Fri, Sun)
BR15 Los Angeles to Taipei departing 1:55AM arriving 6:10AM (+1 day) (Monday, Thursday, Saturday)

Kicking myself for having schedule conflicts for the first two weeks of the service, though this is now at the very top of my list of aspirational products to try. I think Jamison was right all along — flying first class doesn’t make sense.

Lucky, I'm hoping to cash in on some United miles on EVA, on a LAX->TPE->SIN route. I noticed that there are some award business seats for 60k miles. I'd like to layover in TPE for a few days. Is it possible to incorporate that in a layover? Thanks.

@ Amazed - On a roundtrip itinerary, absolutely! Just use the multi-city tool or call United to book the segments you want.

Lucky, just saw the schedule on Eva's website! http://evakitty.evaair.com/en/FlightRoutes.aspx

Looks the same as yours except between Nov 3 - Mar 8 flight BR15 LAX-TPE departs on W/F/Su. Probably due to daylight savings time changes.

Good lord, 14 hours of this music (http://evakitty.evaair.com/en/pages/experience/lineplane.aspx)??? Nooooooo!

You've got to be on the inaugural flight Ben! Rearrange the schedule...whatever you've got planned can't possibly be more important, as this seems like it would make for pretty good blog material.

Just do a search on Google for Eva Air Hello Kitty, then click "images" at the top, and you'll see what all the fuss is about.

The thought of getting into one of those Hello Kitty planes gives me shudder... It's a 14+ hours of mental torture.

The plane will be full of passengers who booked the flight months ago and couldn't care less whether it's HK or whatever. They'll just want to get to Taipei.

What Cory said...I imagine a plane full of screaming girls.

+1 to Dax's comment - you should be live-tweeting the first flight! ;)

Hmmm.... I have an EVA air flight scheduled for January.... it's flight BR15 LAX-TPE but it departs at 10:45 pm instead of the 1:55 am you are showing. I wonder if there has been a schedule change for that? Wouldn't it be nice if I could arrange it for that specific flight!

Yes but what about the rimowa kits??

This post was the highlight of an otherwise dreary day at work. Thanks for that!

I am at a loss here, but I am a curmudgeon so don't take my confusion too much to heart. But, I am pretty sure I am missing the fascination with this.

On the other hand if this is really at the "very top" of your aspirational goals then you'd better put whatever is in the way on hold and fly the inaugural. In both directions. Anything less is an insult to the most powerful cartoon cat on earth.

    :-D
