The Chase Ultimate Rewards program has just launched its latest transfer bonus. This offer has the potential to be quite valuable, and it’s one that I’m sure many people will take advantage of.

Chase offering 20% Air Canada Aeroplan transfer bonus

Between Saturday, June 15, 2024, and Wednesday, July 31, 2024, you can receive a 20% bonus when you transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Air Canada Aeroplan.

This promotion is being offered on Chase’s end (in the United States), and is hard coded into the transfer ratio, meaning you should see the bonus at the time that you make the transfer.

Chase is offering a 20% Aeroplan transfer bonus

You can take advantage of this offer an unlimited number of times. Transfers from Chase to Air Canada Aeroplan are generally instant. This is the fourth time we’ve seen a transfer bonus from Chase Ultimate Rewards to Air Canada Aeroplan, as we previously saw one in 2022, and two in 2024.

There are several great cards earning Chase Ultimate Rewards points, and it’s easy to combine points between the cards.

Also keep in mind that those with the Aeroplan® Credit Card (review) get a further 10% bonus when transferring Ultimate Rewards points to Aeroplan, and these two offers stack:

  • This applies when transferring 50,000 or more Chase Ultimate Rewards points in one transaction
  • You can get a maximum of 25,000 bonus points per calendar year this way
  • The 10% bonus points will post separately — the bonus points should post within 72 hours of the original transfer, but it can take up to seven days

Should you transfer Chase points to Aeroplan?

Air Canada Aeroplan is one of my favorite programs for redeeming points, thanks to the huge number of airline partners, plus the ability to book stopovers even on one-way awards for just 5,000 additional points.

Aeroplan has fair award pricing, and not only gets you access to redemptions on all Star Alliance airlines, but also gets you access to a variety of otherwise unaligned airlines, including Air Mauritius, Gulf Air, and many more.

While I usually prefer to transfer my Chase points to World of Hyatt and transfer my Amex points to Air Canada Aeroplan, with a 20% or more bonus, I think this could very well be worth switching up behavior over.

Bottom line

Through July 31, 2024, Chase Ultimate Rewards is offering a 20% bonus on points transfers to Air Canada Aeroplan. This is an excellent offer that could be worth taking advantage of, given just how useful the Aeroplan program is for Star Alliance and other partner redemptions. The bonus is even more lucrative if you have the Aeroplan Credit Card, so you can get an additional 10% bonus (with some limitations).

Do you plan on taking advantage of this Chase Aeroplan transfer bonus?

I transfered points yesterday, over 24 hours ago, and still waiting for them to show up in my Aeroplan account. The account isn't new, I've transfered points before and even have an award flight booked for later this year. It's killing me - really worried that I will lose the award I've been eyeing. Any suggestions? Does contacting customer support ever help expedite?

How long did it take for your points to finally transfer? Still waiting on mine from 24 hours ago.

Did you ever receive your points? I am waiting as well.

"Well, I used 30K miles plus one of their 50K CC card opening credits and a few bucks for a one way in 'J' CGK-SIN-IST-MUC, on SQ and TK. Other alliances would have been a lot more 'expensive'." -- mauipeter

There are, of course, exceptions that in, fact, affirm the rule. Just because you found one instance of Aeroplan being less 'expensive' does not nullify the overwhelming evidence that has emerged since the pandemic that Aeroplan is simply not the superlative program for award redemption that this site, especially, continues to tout it to be.

Case in point: A year ago, I "speculatively" transferred 100K UR points to Aeroplan miles intending to used them to book premium cabin award tickets to fly on *A carriers in Asia as part of my Year-end Escapade(TM). However, when it came time to book flights that I was interested in, I found that either that UA had better deals in most cases or, worse, Aeroplan showed no available premium cabin awards when other *A carriers, including UA, showed such awards available. The result is that I am having to scramble to find award travel to book with the 100K UR points I transferred to Aeroplan miles because AwardWallet is warning me that they are about to expire.

As a rule, avoid transfer points "speculatively" to Aeroplan. Do it only after identifying a flight you'd like to book, especially when relying on the almost always clunky Aeroplan website.

I have to agree with Robin's comment. I joined Aeroplan 3 years ago and received bonus for the Aeroplan card.

Was never able t o use the points coupled with their website is the absolute most complicated airline site I have come across and trust me,
    I access many.

Cancelled the card and cancelled aeroplan membership

I'm waiting with baited breathe to count the number of OMAAT readers who think this is a good offer:-)

Hah, all I hear are crickets!

Aeroplan is such a terrible program, every single time I've ever done a search there, they're more expensive by 30-40%, and with large fees to boot. Why on Earth would I ever use them?

    2. DCS Diamond

Why on Earth would I ever use them?

You'd use them because self-anointed "travel gurus" have decreed that Aeroplan is a superlative program through which to redeem points for award tickets, the overwhelming to the contrary, at least since the end of the pandemic, be damned.

The "thought leader's" post on the same offer has been greeted with the same, shall we say, "low energy" ;-)

You don't need 1000 words to convey YMMV. With or without the clumsy HTML formatting mistakes.
