Capital One has two Venture-branded business cards. The Capital One Venture X Business is Capital One’s most lucrative business card. A new limited time welcome bonus has just launched, which is the biggest we’ve seen on the card… the catch is that the spending requirement is massive as well!
If the high annual fee or spending requirement turns you off, the lower annual fee version, the Capital One Venture Business, also offers a compelling bonus. In this post, I’d like to go over all the details of both offers.
Earn 300K miles + $1,300 credit with the Capital One Venture X Business
The Capital One Venture X Business is currently offering a limited time welcome offer, to celebrate the card’s third anniversary. This limited time welcome offer is structured as follows:
- Earn up to 300,000 bonus miles — 150,000 bonus miles after spending $40,000, plus another 150,000 bonus miles after spending a total of $120,000, all within the first four months
- Earn up to $1,300 in Capital One Business Travel credits — get a $300 annual travel credit, plus earn a limited time $1,000 travel credit for bookings through Capital One Business Travel (to be used within the first 12 months) when you spend $120,000 in the first four months
To state the obvious, the spending requirement here is massive. Based on my latest miles & points valuation, Capital One miles are worth 1.7 cents each, so that means I’d value the 300,000 miles at $5,100. If you add in the incremental $1,000 travel credit, I’d say that’s a value of $6,100.
But of course the math is more nuanced than that. The Capital One Venture X Business ordinarily offers 2x miles per dollar spent, so if you spend $120,000 within four months, you’d actually earn a minimum of 540,000 miles, which comes out to an average of 4.5x miles per dollar spent. That doesn’t factor in the value of the travel credit either.
There are lots of great uses for Capital One miles, as they can be transferred to all kinds of useful airline and hotel partners, or they can be redeemed toward a travel purchase.

Who is eligible for the Capital One Venture X Business bonus?
All card issuers have some general application restrictions. However, Capital One probably has among the fewest consistent restrictions. Specific to the Capital One Venture X Business, the welcome offer on the card isn’t available to those who already have the card, or those who had the Spark Travel Elite Card (which is what this card was briefly branded as) or who have the Capital One Spark Cash Plus (learn more).
Beyond that, eligibility should be unrelated to having any other Capital One card. You are eligible for the bonus on this card if you have the personal version of the card. Note that while there are similarities between the two cards, there are also some differences.

Why the Capital One Venture X Business is worth it
The Capital One Venture X Business has a $395 annual fee, so it’s among the higher annual fee business cards out there. However, the card offers a variety of rewards, benefits, and perks, that should offer outsized value:
- The Venture X Business offers a minimum of 2x miles on all purchases, making it one of the best cards for everyday spending; on top of that, the card has no foreign transaction fees and no preset spending limit
- The Venture X Business offers a $300 annual Capital One Business Travel credit, which can be used toward a flight, hotel, or rental car; if you travel with any frequency, this should be worth close to face value
- The Venture X Business offers 10,000 Venture bonus miles on your account anniversary every year; this is worth a minimum of $100, but potentially way more than that
- The Venture X Business offers the primary card member access to participating Priority Pass™ lounges, plus access to Capital One Lounges and Capital One Landings
- The Venture X Business offers a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit once every four years
The way I do the math on the card is that I consider the $300 annual travel credit and 10,000 anniversary bonus miles to (more than) cover the annual fee on an ongoing basis, and then everything else is the real value offered by the card. You’re earning a great return on spending, plus airport lounge access.

The cheaper Capital One Venture Business also has a great bonus
It’s worth mentioning that the Capital One Venture Business is another option to consider. The card has a reasonable $95 annual fee and offers a bonus of 100,000 Capital One miles after spending $10,000 within the first three months. That’s obviously still a substantial spending requirement, but a fraction of the Venture X Business spending requirement.

You can earn both Capital One Venture Business bonuses
Above, I covered the eligibility requirements for the Capital One Venture X Business. So it’s also worth noting that when it comes to eligibility for the Capital One Venture Business (including for the bonus), this product is considered separately.
So you could earn the bonus on both cards, and that could potentially get you 400,000 bonus miles, plus the travel credits. The rewards opportunities there are massive.

Who should consider the Capital One Venture Business instead
While I think there’s merit to picking up both cards, given the incredible bonuses, how should you decide between the two cards in the long run? The Capital One Venture Business has some advantages as well:
- The Venture Business has an annual fee of $95, so it’s $300 lower than on the Venture X Business
- The Venture Business offers a minimum of 2x miles on all purchases, making it one of the best cards for everyday spending, with no foreign transaction fees; so in terms of rewards, it’s very similar to the Venture X Business
- The Venture Business offers a $50 annual Capital One Business Travel credit, a $50 annual credit for qualifying advertising or software purchases, and a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit once every four years, so that’s pretty great given the low annual fee
Personally, I think the annual fee on the Capital One Venture X Business is well worth it. However, understandably many people would rather not pay such a high annual fee upfront, and for those people, the Capital One Venture Business is a compelling option.

Capital One Venture Business bonus FAQs
Bottom line
The Capital One Venture X Business is offering a massive new limited time welcome bonus, whereby you can earn 300,000 bonus miles plus up to $1,300 in Capital One Business Travel credits upon spending $120,000 in the first four months (admittedly the spending requirement is massive). You should be eligible for this card as long as you don’t currently have this exact card, haven’t had the Spark Travel Elite, and don’t currently have the Spark Cash Plus.
There’s lots of value to having this card in the long-run, including being able to earn 2x miles with no preset spending limit, plus all kinds of valuable travel perks, including airport lounge access. If you’ve been considering this card, now is the ideal time to apply… assuming you can reach that spending requirement!
If the annual fee on the card is too high for your liking, you can also consider the Capital One Venture Business as it also has a nice offer for 100,000 bonus miles, and a much more reasonable annual fee, while still offering 2x miles on spending.
