In the past year we’ve seen Israel establish diplomatic relations with more countries in the Middle East. This started with a new agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, which included new nonstop flights between the two countries — for example, we’re seeing EL AL fly to Dubai, Etihad fly to Tel Aviv, etc.

The political boundaries that show up on Great Circle Mapper are fabulously outdated. It looks like they're showing the Neutral Zone between Iraq and KSA which hasn't existed for decades.
The route has as much significance as the link: THe banalization of using Saudi airspace (and on this route it could be easily avoided without a big penalty) bodes excellently for mutual OFFICIAL recognition of the two countries (Unofficial is at least 20 years old)
Deep inside, the Saudis know full well that their safety vis à vis Iran is in Israeli hands and, the way things are going here, both KSA and Israel could use new allies as this country drowns in chaos.
