For those of you not familiar with Amex Offers, it’s a program available through most Amex cards, where different cards are eligible for different savings and bonus offers. In many cases, the offers can be huge, and more than offset the annual fee on a card.

To view Amex Offers, go to the bottom of the account summary page of any American Express card, where you’ll see all the offers you’re eligible for. These offers come in different forms, including discounts and even in some cases bonus points.

We somewhat frequently see Amex Offers for discounts on hotel stays, in particular with Hilton and Marriott, given that Amex issues co-brand credit cards for both of those companies.

We’re now seeing an awesome new offer for stays at select Marriott properties.

$60 Back With Marriott Hotel Stay

At the moment there’s a new targeted Amex Offer for $60 back when you spend $300+ at select Marriott Bonvoy properties:

  • This is valid for stays in the US, US territories, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean
  • This is valid for stays through December 31, 2019
  • The following Marriott brands are excluded: Marriott Vacation Club, Edition, St. Regis Hotels, The Ritz-Carlton, The Luxury Collection, W Hotels, JW Marriott Hotels, Vistana, Design Hotels, Protea Hotels, Homes & Villas by Marriott International, and Marriott Executive Apartments

Do be aware of the following terms:

  • You have to book directly with Marriott (by phone, through Marriott’s website, or mobile app)
  • Excludes gift card purchases
  • You just have to spend $300+ cumulatively, so you could spend that across multiple stays; taxes and fees should even count towards that total

As you’d expect, you can earn Marriott Bonvoy points for these bookings as well, and you can even take advantage of Marriott’s global promotion on hotel stays.

As you can see, many of Marriott’s luxury brands are excluded. That’s because there’s a separate Amex Offer for $100 back when you spend $500+ at luxury Marriott brands.

Bottom Line

This is a great opportunity to save 20% off the cost of an upcoming stay at a Marriott property. This is valid at a majority of Marriott’s non-luxury brands, so it’s a great deal.

Ideally you’ll see this offer on a co-branded Marriott card (like The Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card — review here) so that you can earn 6x points on your stay while also getting $60 back on $300+ of hotel spending.

Was your account targeted for this Amex Offer, and do you plan on taking advantage of it?

  1. I got this offer on my Amex Platinum. Too bad I didn’t see it earlier. I just stayed at a Marriott this week. I also have a $100 back when spending $500, but that’s only for luxury brands – EDITION, Ritz, JW, W.

  2. I first logged in to Business Blue Plus & added it.
then logged in Marriott Brilliant did not see it.

I’d think it would be on the Marriott card too, can it be because it was added from another logged in account? I thought separate login would not make it go away.

  3. @ktc – I didn’t see it on my Brilliant card, only on my Platinum. Also, Amex removed the ability to use different logins to add offers to multiple cards. I don’t remember when that was, but I’d say sometime in the last 18 months.

  4. The Australian Amex Platinum charge & associated Reserve credit got this offer about 2-3 weeks ago, although I cannot speak for other Amex cards. Albeit our offer requires one spend AUD$500 to get AUD$100 back. It’s still the equivalent 20% discount effectively though, allowing for the AUD to USD conversion (yesterday it was just under 70 AU cents to one USD).

It’s good to see an Amex offer down here finally mirroring the US offers though!

  5. Thanks for calling this out! I have a stay booked for Monday at a Westin for work and just checked and I was targeted – as its a work trip and i’ll be reimbursed the full amount this is a free $60 in my pocket!!

  6. I have Amex Platform & Bonvoy Amex but there’s no offer on my cards. I’m Marriott Titanium Lifetime & have 72 stays this year. Do they not provide the offer if they don’t think you need “incentive”? Hmmmm

  7. Please clarify. So if you have the right Amex card you will get such offer on the email or is it up to you to check AMEX frequently what offers they have?

  8. Got this on my Amex Business Plus, but not on my Bonvoy Brilliant or Amex Gold, which would have been better. Still, I will take the 2X MR points and $60 off of $300 over 3X MR points or 6X Marriott points anyday.
Of course, I will ask them to charge $300 exactly to my Biz Plus and the rest to my Marriott card.

  9. I have this offer and also the Sheraton Chase max $33 offer. I have a $300+ Sheraton stay coming up and prefer to save $60 vs $33- can anyone confirm if Sheraton has triggered the $60 Amex offer for them?

  10. Which offer do the autograph collection hotels fall under? I have already used the “International luxury” Amex offer for $100 back but have a stay that would qualify in spend for the $60 back. Do not see autograph collection mentioned specifically as an exclusion.
