The Marriott Bonvoy Business Amex has a welcome offer where you can earn 3 Free Night Awards after you use your new Card to make $6,000 in eligible purchases within the first 6 months of Card Membership. Each Free Night Award has a redemption level up to 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points, for a total potential value of up to 150,000 points, at hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy®. For what it’s worth, I value Bonvoy points at 0.7 cents each. If you were able to maximize the 50,000 points per night redemption for a total of 150,000 points, I’d value the bonus at $1,050.
Marriott Amex Business Card eligibility requirements
If you’re applying for the Marriott Bonvoy Business Amex, the general Amex application restrictions apply. For example, you’re typically limited to having a total of five Amex credit cards (not including hybrid cards), regardless of whether they’re personal or business.
The good news is that I find Amex business cards to anecdotally be pretty easy to get approved for. Another awesome thing is that if you’re concerned about Chase’s 5/24 limit, applying for an Amex business card won’t count toward that.

Why the Marriott Amex Business Card is worth it
Not only does the Marriott Bonvoy Business Amex have a generous welcome offer, but this is a card that’s worth keeping in the long run. It’s a card I’ve had for years, and plan to continue to hold onto. The card has a $125 annual fee (Rates & Fees), and for that you receive two key perks:
- 15 elite nights toward Marriott Bonvoy status annually, making it much easier to earn Bonvoy Platinum status or above; if you want to earn as many elite nights as possible from credit cards, you need to have the business version of the card
- An anniversary free night award every year, valid at a property costing up to 35,000 points per night; you can even top this off with up to 15,000 additional points, to redeem at a more expensive property
To me that more than justifies the annual fee, and that doesn’t even factor in some of the other perks, like complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Gold status.

Bottom line
The Marriott Bonvoy Business Amex has a solid welcome offer, and on top of that, this is a card thats worth keeping, thanks to the 15 elite nights toward status annually, the annual free night reward, and more.

I have a question.
Based on Marriott eligibility rules, I can get a SUB on this business card if I hold a Ritz Carlton card.
Are there any preconditions to this? I'm asking as I just product changed to the Ritz Carlton from a Chase Marriott Boundless that I literally opened a year ago. If I had kept the Marriott Boundless, I would supposedly not be eligible for a SUB according to Marriott eligibility rules. Thank you
If you opened a Chase Marriott Boundless last year, you can't earn a SUB on any Amex-issued Marriott card until 2026 (24 months after you earned the Boundless SUB). At that point, you could get the Amex business card.
You would also have to downgrade Ritz back to Boundless or Bold if you later want to get the Brilliant SUB.
Would say whether 125K points or 5 50K free night certificates is a better bonus on this card and also the Bonvoy Boundless (since they both seem to recur a couple of times per year) depends on where and when you plan to travel next (since certificates expire after one year and points normally don't).

Either way, you'll get more value and free nights generally if you view this in terms of mid-level redemptions (Marriott, Westin, etc.) costing maybe up to $300-$400/night (up to 50K-60K points per night) than high-end properties (Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, Edition, etc.) that will likely cost north of $500/night and 70K or even 100K points per night.
Hard enough to finas Marriott properties under 50k/night. Unless they’re lowest brand. I think they’re an overrated chain, certainly if reward for loyalty is your thing.
