Qantas one upping Etihad

Qantas one upping Etihad

Sad report from the Qantas International First lounge in Sydney tonight – it seems like aggressive cost control measures are in place. A few observations:
    – Despite it being a busy time, one of the dining alcoves is closed with a person vacuuming while passengers are looking for seats.
    – There are exactly two members of the wait staff working. One per open dining section.
    – This means that there are zero members of the wait staff milling around offering drinks and snacks to people not in the dining area. This wouldn’t be a massive deal, but….
    – The wine and snacks have been removed from the self-service section.

The food here is still tasty, but the overall impression that Qantas is giving people visiting the lounge is that you should arrive at the lounge as you would arrive at a BBQ, with your own food and drink.
