Likelihood and Timing of Business/First Award Space Opening Up on Emirates (using Alaska miles)

Likelihood and Timing of Business/First Award Space Opening Up on Emirates (using Alaska miles)

    Hi all,

I’m currently eyeing an award from Colombo to Dallas, via DXB on Emirates for travel in October. This would be booked using Alaska miles. I can get space in First on the DXB-DFW leg, but I only see coach options from CMB-DXB. What are the odds of business/first space opening up later on and when could I expect such a thing to happen (anytime, weeks out, days out)? I don’t think there’s any harm in booking the award as-is and simply canceling later if I see the space I want, but someone check my logic if that seems wrong. I’m also assuming there’s no way to waitlist for the space or have it manually requested by Alaska?

@eh2892 There is no way to wait list space that I know of. @Tiffany can probably speak better to the availability question.
