Emirates upgrade question

Emirates upgrade question

  1. Malc Diamond

Hi, I finally have enough points to upgrade to First on an Emirates flight next year. My questions will seem very basic to people who do this kind of thing all the time …

I’ll be booking in August for my flight next year. I’m planning to book Business and then log into my account and upgrade to First. Is this right? Do I check to see that there are seats available in First before I book my ticket? (This’ll be Auckland to Cairo, so I don’t know if that’s an in-demand route.) Are there any other things I should be aware of or tips that might help?

    Thanks …

@Malc what mileage currency will you be using?

Definitely check upgrade availability before you buy your tickets — you can call or check on ExpertFlyer. AKL-DXB could be competitive.

Also make sure you purchase the right class of tickets — the most discounted business class fares aren’t eligible for upgrades.

    Thanks, Tiffany.
