DXB-DOH-HKG AA Award question

DXB-DOH-HKG AA Award question

1. Cal New Member

I am looking to book DXB-DOH-HKG in business class. I am checking on BA website for segment availability and see that the are only two classes from DXB-DOH; ecomony and first. I understand that “first” is really business class however if I want to book “first” on this segment will I be charged a full first class redemption (50K instead of 40k)?

What date are you searching? For a random date next month ba.com lists economy and business class for me. It depends on what fare bucket it books into.
Z = first class
U = business class
X = economy

Hi There,

When using AA miles on Qatar Airways “first class” flights within the gulf, the agents should charge you per the business class award chart since it is Business/First. I one time had an agent who wanted to charge me per the first class award chart, but they checked with their supervisor and confirmed that you will actually be charged by the business chart.

Hey @Cal — it depends, basically. If you’re booking with American miles, I’ve had luck with agents pricing the “Z” inventory as “domestic first”, and allowing it with a business class award. If it’s British Airways, they’ll price it as First.

Checking in Feb. 2017. I guess I will see with the agent when it is time to book. Thanks!
