Last week I posted about the official opening date of the Park Hyatt Vienna, which was listed as June 1, 2014.
Park Hyatt Vienna
Personally, this is one of the hotel openings I’m most excited about this year. I love Vienna and I love Park Hyatts, so when you combine the two you get a hell of a new offering.
Well, it appears as if the Park Hyatt is finally bookable for stays starting June 2, 2014.
As a reminder, per the Gold Passport awards page, the Park Hyatt Vienna will be a Category 6 property:
That means if you’re looking to redeem points for a stay, it will cost you either 25,000 Gold Passport points per night for a free night award, or 12,500 Gold Passport points plus $150 for a Points + Cash award.
While the hotel has loaded award nights at 25,000 Gold Passport points per night, as of now they haven’t loaded any Points + Cash availability (I had to call since Points + Cash can’t be booked online, and the agent didn’t see availability for any dates yet).
As far as paid rates go, in my previous post I speculated that revenue nights at this hotel would go for 350-400EUR per night. And I wasn’t too far off, as the revenue rate at this hotel seems to be 375EUR per night. They’ve also loaded availability using the “My Elite Rate,” which offers 20% off for Hyatt elite members on a space available basis, bringing down the cost to 300EUR per night
The other good news is that the hotel has lots of room types, which should be good news in terms of upgrades. A Diamond Confirmed Suite Upgrade Award should confirm into a Park Suite, which retails for 945EUR per night. I’d say that’s a great use of a suite upgrade given that the suite rate is nearly three times the rate of an entry level room.
Anyone else plan on checking out the Park Hyatt Vienna within the first few months of it opening? 🙂
@ Susannah -- would be interested in your recommendations also. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to go to a ton of restaurants in Vienna when I was there but was recommended Café Amacord and it was really good (FYI, menu is only in German).
Susannah,
I would love to get your thoughts on top places/restaurants. I will only be in Vienna for one day and one night in August. If you have any recommendations for that short period of time, let me know. [email protected]
@lucky - if you're at all interested in recommendations on some of the top places/restaurants (especially off-the-beaten-track yet fantastic restaurants)/etc in Vienna, just let me know!
Hi All,
I just confirmed my Cash + Points reservation for mid-August at PH Vienna. I received an email from the hotel staff and they confirmed Cash + Points rate of EUR 111 + 12,500 points. I simply called the Hyatt Reservation line (1-888-591-1234) and the operator quickly assisted me with making the reservation.
@ Carey -- That's great news, thanks for the heads up!
@Susannah I'm certainly not the reviewer that Ben is, but I just flew Austrian JFK-VIE yesterday, and would certainly recommend it. The crew was friendly and efficient, and the food was delicious! (Pumpkin ravioli and the iced coffee especially!!) The seat felt a little narrow and certainly had no privacy. The IFE selection was sufficient, but not impressive. The blanket was just thick enough to be comfortable, but not warm. The pillow though was a...
The pillow though was a little too flat for me. If it hadn't been a full cabin I would have taken a second one and been fine.
Check in at JFK was quick though security was long. They use the LH
lounge which was comfortable and not too crowded, with a good selection of food and drink and strong wifi.
No line at immigration at VIE. And the CAT train into the city from the airport was quick and easy. Austrian's lounge at VIE is kind of hidden up on the second level at the end of the hallway. They have a few small shower rooms, and a large drink selection (didn't spend much time looking at the food).
Thanks for keeping us updated, Lucky! I also enjoyed Vienna a lot. Probably not in a small part because of an upgrade to a top-floor suite with a terrace & Opera view at Hotel Bristol.
I'll be staying in Vienna on August 15. I've also been on the phone/email with them in order to get an idea of when Points + Cash reservations will be available. I'll share any info once received.
Have been watching this develop for two months now as I'll be in Vienna from June 2-4 - in for a points award, thanks!
Staying in every Park Hyatt in the "world" should be on your bucket list as you start your nomadic adventure!
@lucky, will you be going to it? I'd love for you to review the hotel, and the Austrian JFK-VIE route while you're at it :)
@ Susannah -- Yep, hope to check it out the first month it's open.
I also called to try to book some points + cash dates later this year but nothing was available. Do you know how long it usually takes to load this availability?
@ JM -- It's anyone's guess. Some hotels don't load any availability at all, it's entirely at their discretion. If they do load space it could be once they open, so they have a better sense of what advance bookings look like.
Booked Elite rate, one night on the first weekend in June... will also use one of the award certificates to upgrade into suite... lets see, if the opening will indeed be on time...
I'm really interested but sadly I won't be able to book the Park Hyatt Vienna in the first few months, mostly because my main travel season is from February to August. (In September to January, I actually do work. Please don't let my boss know.)
