Air India Unveils Tumi Amenity Kits & Pajamas

Air India Unveils Tumi Amenity Kits & Pajamas

37

Now that Air India is privately owned, the airline is trying to become more premium. This is a gradual process, as the Star Alliance carrier retrofits its existing aircraft, takes delivery of new aircraft, and merges several airline brands.

Air India has just announced a very nice soft product improvement, as the company is introducing Tumi amenity kits and pajamas in premium cabins.

Air India’s new amenities from Tumi

Air India has just unveiled new amenities for first class, business class, and premium economy passengers, as well as new pajamas. All of these are offered in partnership with Tumi, a popular premium travel brand. Let’s take a look at the details.

New Air India Tumi amenity kits

Air India first class amenity kit

Air India’s new first class amenity kits are in Tumi packing cases with a carry handle. Included in the kits are skincare products from Malin + Goetz (hand & body lotion, face mist, and lip moisturizer), as well as a Tumi eye mask, socks, dental kit, earplugs, pen, and tissues.

Air India business class amenity kit

Air India’s new business class amenity kits are in Tumi hard shell mini-cases, inspired by Tumi’s 19 Degree collection. The kits also contains a vegan leather patch that can be taken to a Tumi store to have your initials monogrammed on the front of the case. Included in the kits are skincare products from Malin + Goetz (hand & body lotion, face mist, and lip moisturizer), as well as a Tumi eye mask, socks, dental kit, earplugs, pen, and tissues.

Air India pajamas

Air India offers pajamas in both first and business class on long haul flights, and these are getting quite an upgrade. Air India will offer Tumi sleepwear, made from recycled materials blended with cotton, for extra softness and breathability.

The Tumi pajamas have a unisex design and are crew neck style. The pajamas have Tumi branding, as well as the accent highlights of Tumi red on the drawcord.

Bottom line

Air India is partnering with Tumi on its amenity kits and pajamas. This is a very nice collaboration, and looks like a huge improvement over what the airline has previously offered. While amenity kits and pajamas are only one small part of the passenger experience, this is a step in the right direction.

What do you make of Air India’s new amenities from Tumi?

The Tumi pajama set is really nice and comfortable.

Does anyone know how they are rolling these out in terms of routes? I am flying Delhi to London Heathrow on 12 April - can I expect the new pyjamas/amenity kits etc or is it not as simple as that?

Air India seems to be copying Delta a lot lately. I hope they become a viable competitor to the ME3 and all the great flag carriers of the Asia Pacific region.

I find it interesting that so many avgeeks are in general vile & nasty people. That being said, with Air India's order for so many new aircraft things will feel different aboard. They are investing heavily in Air India & things will change. Really.

This is an old Delta knock off, when will airlines stop using TUMI it is old, they look identical

    1. Eskimo Guest

What a stupid comment. Like I posted earlier, I'd take this over Delta's current one.

And if you think TUMI is old and look identical, I guess you're too ignorant to realize 4 airlines actually used the old and identical Rimowa cases.

What is the perfume? Guerlain les Bovineurine?

Are the racist bigots on this blog actually concerned that AI will improve its services and experiences for passengers or that they can't say the same for the US and EU airlines - in the rare instance that they are not on strike in case of the latter.

  8. Steven E Guest

Very nice - now to see how much of that product goes missing

  9. Avid traveller Guest

Will that stop fliers from urinating on fellow passengers as that seems to be the norm on air India. How about eradicating roach infestation and bed bugs.

  10. iamhere Guest

A nice touch but not the reason I choose an airline

  11. RS Guest

How about focusing on the quality of the food, reclining seats with keg rest in all classes and increase the size of the toilets ? In all honesty, no one uses the products in these amenity kits they provide.

    1. Ramesh Singh Rajput Guest

If you want to throw money at it you can avail of those things like it was in past. Air travel has become more affordable than before and it’s affordable because much of things you mention are considered luxury and not requested by economy class travelers.

All i can say is that some of your readers above are completely ignorant & are judging Air India without even flying with them.
I have recently flown twice with them & their services are close to the best there is out there.
I would pick them over most European & American carriers hands down.

For people making fun of AI getting it from Delta.

I'd take this kit over Delta's current 'woke green washed' kit any day.

Agreed. The current DL kits do not look/feel premium at all.

Air India is going to be measured by 1. On time flights (specially long distance flights) 2. Condition of interior, seats, entertainment systems etc. and 3. Attitude of the inflight crew. All other things are noise at this time. I am really hoping the turned around is quick as my father worked for Air India for a very long time.

    1. Ramesh Singh Rajput Guest

The atttitude of the crew also depends on how the crew is treated By passengers. Many forget that primary job of the crew is safety and that they are no their hired help to cater to them for every minor need like cold water etc. by ringing the button every 30min. Passengers can avail those by walking to end of aisle and get those. For those concerned about elderly parents traveling have them book first class so that the crew can cater to them better.

Funny that they just announced this. I flew JFK-BOM in F on Air India a few weeks ago and received the Tumi PJs and amenity kit. Pretty decent!

Are the pyjamas soaked in urine? Assuming this is part of the service

  18. vlcnc Guest

    1) Tumi stuff is ugly and rubbish 2) Nothing will get me to fly that dirty filthy unreliable low quality airline.

    1. vlcnc Guest

      Absolutely. Never understood their popularity.

Bimam is the best in the world.

The finest airline in the subcontinent has to be Bangladesh Biman. They are top notch when compared to others in the region....

    1. bruh Guest

no, I think SriLankan is better when compared to the other airlines in the region

  20. lavanderialarry Guest

Did they find these inside the ex-DL aircraft they acquired? Even with fancy PJs and Tumi kits, I'd never fly this airline.

    1. Eskimo Guest

Waiting for TPG to do a PJ pee resistant comparison test.

Not sure if it's just me, but flew JAL F recently and got the last of their hard case amenity kits (on the return journey got their new soft one).
It's either my luck or that they just don't make them that great, but every hard case amenity kit I've gotten, I've found the zipper to just not run smoothly, which is an annoyance if you're planning to reuse.
    One that I've continued...

One that I've continued to use even till today is a small but efficient one from CX that was offered years back - zipper works great, I know what I can pack inside, compact enough to fit into backpacks.
I admit that hard case design looks great - but not quite sure about practicality.

Maybe these are old DL kits found in the bellies of the 777s they bought from DL. They just scraped the logos off the seats - may be same idea with these “lavish” new kits….

  23. Razzak Bakrichodh Memon Guest

Its a step in the right direction but I still prefer Amrickan Airlines for their impeccable service, amenity kits and especially AAngels which makes be feel like the Pakistani Charlies Angel guy.

“Impeccable service” is the biggest overstatement to describe AA

I hope you realize that this was supposed to be a sarcastic comment.

Boy did you get that right
