Link: Apply now for the Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card
The no annual fee version of the Capital One Venture Card has a bonus that will interest many. This bonus was first introduced several weeks ago, and it’s anyone’s guess for how long it will stick around.
In this post:
Earn 40K Venture miles with the VentureOne Card
At the moment, the Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card is offering a bonus of 40,000 Venture miles after spending $1,000 within the first three months. This is an exceptional bonus for a no annual fee personal card. Prior to this, the card’s bonus only offered half as many miles.
While there are of course bigger bonuses out there, earning 40,000 miles that can be transferred to airline and hotel partners on a no annual fee card is pretty noteworthy. There are lots of great uses of Capital One Venture miles.
Capital One’s general credit card application restrictions apply. Note that while this is a one-time bonus, eligibility for the bonus is unrelated to whether you have another version of the Capital One Venture Card.
The Capital One VentureOne offers 1.25x Venture miles on all purchases, and has no foreign transaction fees. You can read a full review of the card here.

Should you apply for the Capital One VentureOne?
If you’re trying to decide whether to apply for this card, you could look at it in absolute or relative terms. That’s because there are three versions of the Capital One Venture. Ultimately you’re eligible for each of these cards, so you could apply for the Capital One VentureOne even if you already have one of the more premium versions of the card.
Just to cover some basics of the other two versions of the card:
- The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card (review) has a $95 annual fee, offers a welcome bonus of 75,000 Venture miles after you spend $4,000 within the 3 months of cardmembership, awards 2x Venture miles on all purchases, and offers several valuable perks
- The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card (review) has a $395 annual fee, offers a welcome bonus of 75,000 Venture miles after you spend $4,000 within the 3 months of cardmembership, awards 2x Venture miles on all purchases, and offers incredible perks, including a $300 annual travel credit, 10,000 anniversary bonus miles, a Priority Pass membership, unlimited access to Capital One Lounges, unlimited access to Plaza Premium Lounges, primary rental car coverage, cell phone protection, incredible authorized user perks, and much more

Personally I think the math very much checks out on the Capital One Venture X, and I think the perks more than offset the fee. However, I know many are opposed to paying card annual fees, so for those people the Capital One VentureOne could be a better option.
For more details, see my comparison of the three Capital One Venture products.

Bottom line
The Capital One VentureOne currently has an awesome bonus of 40,000 Venture miles upon completing minimum spending. That’s great for a personal no annual fee card, especially when you consider that many people should be eligible for the card.
In the long run, the card offers 1.25x Venture miles on all purchases with no foreign transaction fees. Furthermore, keep in mind that holding onto credit cards in the long run can help your credit score, and being able to hold onto no annual fee cards is ideal.
What do you make of the Capital One VentureOne, and do you plan on applying with this excellent bonus?
For Capital One products listed on this page, some of the above benefits are provided by Visa® or Mastercard® and may vary by product. See the respective Guide to Benefits for details, as terms and exclusions apply.
Can you transfer to airlines with this card
I was going to apply for venture X, and after research decided against it. There are many negative in fact horror reviews/stories about people's experience with Capital One itself, the portal, and customer service, and how they handle fraud charges, etc.. I read reports of people having been forced to be responsible for fraud charges and being threatened to slap fees on them unless they are paid by the card holder, unlike other cards. I...

I had venture One, and they gave me 1000 CL. and I never used it and after 3 years cancelled it. I am sticking with chase, which has given me me so much positive value, with the trifecta. Waiting for Citi strata though
"Declined. I’m a high earner with a credit score of 810. Only applied for one other line of credit in the last year, and 4 cards in the past 2 years including this one."
Sounds just like Capitol One ... they don't like high earners with excellent credit scores who pay their bills in full.

Is there any reason if you have the Xenture X not to take this card simply for the 40,000 points even if you are never going to charge anything on it but simply to add the 40,000 point to ones Cap One X balance?
One reason: If you care about 5/24 and there are Chase cards you’re interested in. VentureOne would take up a 5/24 slot that could be used for Chase cards with much higher bonuses.
SUB then punt.

The VentureOne is also the cheapest way (in annual fees) to get into meaningful transferrable points currencies
All transferrable points are not alike. Capital One partners are useless for the vast majority of Americans because they don't partner with a single domestic airline and they don't partner with Hyatt which is the only hotel chain with points worth transferring to.
Regarding airlines, there are partner award redemptions if award inventory is available to partner airlines. Regarding hotels, Capital One has three hotel partners and "worth transferring to" is wholly dependent on a person's preferences. For example, a person might transfer Capital One points to Wyndham, which can subsequently be transferred to Caesars . . . if someone is a Vegas person.
British Airways Avios and Air Canada Aeroplan are great for redeeming short-haul domestic US flights!
Does anyone know if you can get this and then cancel your venture x card and keep your capital one miles indefinitely?
@ Rgr -- Capital One does allow you to transfer miles between account, and once transfered there's no expiration date (unlike with Citi ThankYou).
