Save On Alaska Airlines Flights With Amex Offers (Targeted)

1

The Amex Offers program sometimes offers savings or bonus points on flight purchases, which can represent a great deal. We’ve just seen a new promotion introduced, offering a discount on an Alaska Airlines flight.

Save $40 on an Alaska Airlines purchase

With a new targeted Amex Offers deal, you can receive a $40 statement credit when you spend $200 or more with Alaska Airlines by December 31, 2024. It’s possible that there’s also a version of the offer for 4,000 bonus Membership Rewards points rather than a $40 statement credit, which I’d consider to be more valuable (since I value Amex points at 1.7 cents each).

Spend $200+ with Alaska, receive a $40 statement credit

That’s the equivalent of up to 20% back on Alaska spending (if spending exactly $200), which is awesome. There are some basic conditions to this offer that are worth being aware of:

  • The flight needs to be booked directly through the Alaska website or app
  • The flight needs to originate in the United States and be charged in USD
  • While you need to book travel by December 31, 2024, it’s okay if you travel on subsequent dates
  • The offer is not valid on inflight spend, Alaska Lounge memberships, buying points, flights booked through third parties, electronic gift cards, or non-flights booked through the Alaska website (hotels, car services, travel insurance, etc.)

Keep in mind that Alaska doesn’t have change fees on most types of fares nowadays (excluding Saver fares), so you could always book a ticket with this offer and then bank the credit toward a future flight.

Ideally you’ll see this offer on the Amex Platinum

This offer is targeted, though it’s possible you’ll see it on multiple of your Amex cards. If so, I’d highly recommend registering your Amex Platinum Card for this offer. That’s because the Amex Platinum offers 5x points on airfare purchased directly with airlines.

value Membership Rewards points at 1.7 cents each, so to me those points alone are worth an incremental 8.5% return. On top of that, the Amex Platinum offers valuable travel protection, should you experience irregular operations.

In other words, if you took advantage of this offer with the Amex Platinum for a $200 ticket, you’d receive a $40 statement credit, plus you’d earn 1,000 points (which I value at $17). That would be like a $57 return on $200 worth of spending with Alaska, which is excellent.

Bottom line

There’s a new targeted Amex Offers deal that can save you $40 when spending at least $200 with Alaska Airlines, which could represent savings of up to 20%. If you have any upcoming travel to plan, be sure to check your Amex account to see if you’re eligible for this offer.

Were you targeted for this offer, and if so, do you plan on taking advantage of it?
